What is amg package. AMG - what is it? Why is the Mercedes-Benz AMG considered one of the best cars in the world? Racing(II)

Mercedes-Benz is a manufacturer that has become famous all over the world for its reliable, powerful, beautiful and really high-quality cars. And if we talk about this concern, then it is impossible not to be touched by the attention of AMG. What is this abbreviation and what is hidden behind the three letters?

Story

Back in 1967, in the city of Grossaspasch, two engineers created the AMG company, which was supposed to design and test racing engines. They did not think about the name for a long time - they simply took the first letters of the names of the founders of this bureau and the city. Their first client was a man from Kiel, who drove his Mercedes to the office, which his acquaintances advised him. And the mechanics were really able to squeeze everything out of the engine of his car. The client was so impressed with the quality of the work done that a couple of hours later he returned to AMG and once again thanked the mechanics, which inspired them greatly.

From that moment began the history of the company, which today is known throughout the world. And the next stage in their career growth was the beginning of cooperation with Mercedes-Benz. To date, AMG are cars with a beautiful body kit, with minimal acceleration to “hundreds” (a little more than three seconds), and the engine power indicator goes far beyond 1000 hp. It is not surprising that these cars are respected and in demand among motorists.

Powerful dynamics

The high dynamics of AMG Benz is successfully emphasized by its stylish design, which also combines technical necessity. These features include, for example, widely protruding wheel arches. In general, it is worth noting that the technical component radically distinguishes Mercedes AMG from other cars. So, engineers always face an important and difficult task - to integrate powerful equipment into the car, and at the same time create a presentable appearance with traditional athletic proportions.

To achieve this goal, the creators adhere to the principle that the form always follows the dynamics. And in the guise of AMG it shows. For example, powerful air intakes, which are located in the form of the letter “A”, convex spectacular lines on the hood, enlarged wheel arches, wide tires, clearly designed sill trim - all this is AMG. What does it give, why do engineers develop every little thing of the car so carefully? The fact is that every detail is made in the best traditions of AMG, the result is a real unique sports car that cannot be confused with any other car.

The sports engine is the heart of AMG

Separately, I would like to touch on the topic of AMG engines. What is this part of the car, everyone knows. The motors of these machines are as powerful as possible, they are distinguished by a wide speed range, low specific gravity and excellent acoustic performance. Also, one cannot but rejoice. The developers themselves impose increased requirements on their inventions, and, I must say, this is bearing fruit. It is due to the engines that Mercedes AMG cars are extremely maneuverable, have excellent traction and quickly accelerate to “hundreds”. It should not be hidden that AMG engines are powerful units, in the development of which expensive technical solutions taken from racing were used. It was AMG who developed the new 5.5-cylinder V8 biturbo engine that amazed everyone in 2010.

Bright representative of the series

Perhaps the Mercedes-Benz AMG SL 65 is a car that can become the face of the entire series. Indeed, this is the most powerful representative of this lineup. The car looks luxurious, develops incredible speed in seconds and provides the driver with complete safety on the road. What is the first thing that catches your eye? Perhaps the exterior. It is worth highlighting the sports exhaust system with double chrome-plated tailpipes, the latest nameplates V12 BITURBO, double louvre and this is just a small list of the features of this luxurious model.

Mercedes-Benz AMG SL 65 has a trunk roof spoiler, perfectly polished LED running lights and even “gills” (both on the wings of the body and on the hood). One thing can be said about the interior: this is the real embodiment of sophistication. Noble materials were used in the decoration, so the Mercedes looks as luxurious inside as it does outside. Not an ounce of vulgarity and excess - everything is in the best traditions of the German manufacturer.

Max power

Finally, I would like to say a few words about the most powerful and expensive AMG electric car. What kind of car is it, what does it look like, what are its technical characteristics? This is SLS Electric Drive. Its price is about 538 thousand dollars. This monster accelerates to “hundreds” in a little less than four seconds, and its maximum speed is 155 miles per hour! Despite the fact that the four electronic motors are charged by a lithium-ion battery, they give out a very solid power - 740 hp. To fully “gain strength”, the car needs 20 hours, but a 22 kW fast charger is sold with the car - it reduces this process to three hours. The car really impresses with its technical characteristics. So far, no manufacturer in the world has been able to achieve such results, only Mercedes-Benz has achieved such success. That is why AMG today occupy the first places in the rankings of the best, high-quality and popular cars.

42 years ago, Hans Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melchner, two young successful designers from Daimler, created the "Design and Test Office for the Development of Engines for Racing Cars". They have been successful. Today, the AMG abbreviation is a symbol of maximum automotive power in the most magnificent design performance.

AMG decoding

So what is AMG? The letter A is the surname of Hans Werner Aufrecht, the letter M is the surname of his companion Erhard Melchner, and the letter G is the village of Grossashpach, where Aufrecht was born. After a successful career at Daimler, they wanted more: more speed, power and freedom.

AMG's home is Affalterbach, a quiet village in the Rems-Murr district. It was here that in 1976 a company appeared that began to equip Mercedes with even more powerful engines, wide wheels and add expressive angles and edges to their bodies. Since 1999 the firm has been called Mercedes-AMG GmbH. Starting as a tuning studio, the company has turned into a creator of exclusive heavy-duty modifications. In the first year of the new millennium, the demand for cars with the AMG logo reached 11,500 units, a year later - 18,700. In 2003, their number exceeded 20,000, and 2008 was the most successful year for AMG - 24,200 sports cars sold. So, on June 1, 1967, our two enthusiasts opened a tuning shop for Mercedes-Benz cars. The first success came four years later. The Mercedes 300 SEL 6.3, the world's fastest production sedan, has added 500 cc through the hands of AMG engineers. cm of working volume and its power increased from 250 to 428 liters. with. The rally version of the 300 SEL 6.8 took part in the 24 Hours of Spa-Francochamps and finished best in its class and second overall. After such success, AMG had its first fans who wanted to purchase a customized version of the AMG engine with the signature of the master.

Other sporting achievements followed: the 450 SLC AMG won the 1980 European Road Racing Championship, the 300E 5.6 AMG became the first E-class to break 300 km/h. In the DTM series, AMG cars also set the tone: in 1992, 16 out of 24 races were won by AMG cars. The first woman to win a DTM race was Ellen Lohr, who piloted a highly refined racing Mercedes. In 1999, Mercedes-Benz and AMG strengthened their relationship and the Mercedes-AMG GmbH was founded. The name of the models now uses the Mercedes class and numbers indicating the engine displacement. By the way, even today each engine is assembled by one person. A personal plate with the name of the master and his personal signature guarantees the perfect assembly.

Modern models

The AMG models are not only advanced engines. Brakes, suspension, transmission, electronic systems and vehicle performance management systems are also being recycled. And what a discreet but spectacular design these cars have!

What is the company preparing for the near future? A new "revolution": in 2010, the first independent development of Mercedes-AMG GmbH is released. The SLS AMG, an exquisite marvel of engineering, features a 6.3 liter engine that pumps out as much as 420 kW (571 hp), an aluminum space frame, a dry sump lubrication system, a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission with remote arrangement of drive units. It is a supercar with gullwing doors like the legendary 300 SL Gullwing. This car has every chance to open a new page in the history of the automotive industry.

As you know, the Mercedes-Benz brand was born as a result of the merger of Gottlieb Daimler and Karl Benz in 1926. Digital indices in models in their usual form appeared already in the 30s. It is not difficult to guess that they meant nothing more than the size of the engine.

For example, compact and relatively inexpensive models 130H, 150H and 170H had engines with a volume of 1.3, 1.5 and 1.7 liters, respectively, and the letter H indicated the rear engine (Heck in German is "rear"). By the way, in 1935, the 170V also appeared, where the letter denoted not a V-shaped arrangement of cylinders (as one might think), but a front-engine layout (Vorn - “front end”).

At the same time, a body designation system was formed, which operated in parallel. Many different motors can be installed in the same body, but at the dawn of the automotive industry, the formula “one body - one engine” usually worked.

So, 130H had a W23 body, 150H - W30, and 170H - W28. The letter W is Wagen, that is, "carriage, car." In this form of classification of Mercedes-Benz models, they were to exist for about half a century. The body number after the letter W, then - numbers to reflect the volume of the engine, and also auxiliary letters like H and V, which we talked about a little higher.

Mercedes-Benz 170h, 150h and 130h.

A little more about them. For example, the letter E denoted the presence of injection (Einspritzmotor), which Mercedes-Benz has been in use since the 50s. D predictably stands for Diesel, and L stands for lang, that is, "long". T was used for station wagons (Touring), C for coupes, and S for sonder, "special".

There was already enough confusion. For example, the Mercedes-Benz 300SL of the 50s, although a three-liter, is not at all a “special long” car, but a “sporty light”, that is, a sportlich leicht. That is, auxiliary letters could have many meanings.

Mercedes-Benz 300SL

And there was no exact binding of indexes to engine size either! For example, the old ancestor of the modern E-class, the W120 180 model, had a 1.8 engine until 1957, and after restyling it already received a 1.9-liter engine, but the index remained the same, and only a small letter “a” was added to it. Then there were 180b and 180c, with the same 1.9-liter engine. Thank God, these small letters to denote restyling were quickly abandoned.

All these were small departures from tradition. The system as a whole was harmonious: what is the volume, such is the index. There were, of course, intersections. For example, the index 300 in the 70s had both a large Mercedes-Benz W116 and a medium Mercedes-Benz W123 - both had 3-liter engines. They managed by adding S to the “older” postscript. That is, the 300D is a three-liter diesel W123, and the 300SD is a three-liter diesel W116.

W123 and W116

Time to assign classes

In 1982, a younger brother appeared in the back of the W201 in the company of "big" and "very large" Mercedes. He could not help but get a digital index (and how could it be without it?), And here in Stuttgart they went frankly against tradition, giving the “Baby Benz” the name 190. At the same time, not a single modification of this car was ever equipped with 1.9-liter engines - not petrol or diesel! There were many engines, but regardless of their volume, the 190th remained the 190th.

In order to somehow distinguish the modifications from each other, it was decided to simply indicate the engine size, the number of valves and the type of boost, if necessary. So there were 190E 2.3, 190 2.3-16, 190D 2.5 TURBO and more than a dozen different modifications. But then the Germans realized that this was too obvious and simple marking.

“It’s not a royal business to indicate all the information about the engine in an accessible form,” they decided, apparently, in Stuttgart. And in 1993 they returned to total encryption in indexes, and in addition they introduced a class system. , so let's leave them and focus on the numbers.

The three-digit number in the model index after the letter denoting the class still indicated the rounded engine size. The E200 is an E-class with a two-liter engine, the S500 is an S-class with a five-liter engine, and, say, the C230 is a C-class with a 2.3-liter engine.

Since in the 90s all gasoline engines had injection, the letter E disappeared by itself, and D existed until the beginning of the “zero”, when Common Rail high-pressure injection began to be introduced everywhere. So diesels received the designation CDI, that is, Controlled Direct Injection.

The new Mercedes index system turned out to be simple and logical. However, there were deviations from the binding to the volume of engines. Let's say the Mercedes-Benz C240 W202 had a 2.6-liter (not 2.4-liter) V6, and exactly the same one was under the hood of the "older" E240 W210. But these were, again, single deviations from the system.

Versions of the AMG court tuning studio worked in it, but had not three-, but two-digit indexes with an indispensable AMG postscript. For example, an E-Class with a 5-liter V8 was designated as E50 AMG, and with a 6-liter V8 - E60 AMG. True, if we were talking about the top 6.3-liter "eight", then the car was not called the E63 AMG, as one might guess, but ... E60 AMG 6.3. But why? Let's leave this question rhetorical.

And everything was blown up

An additional problem was the introduction of supercharging. This invention of mankind, as we all know, allows you to increase the air intake pressure, that is, improve the filling of the cylinders and increase efficiency. And if so, then the volume in the cylinders needs less! Power, for which you need, say, 3 liters without a boost, with a boost can be provided even with 2.5 liters of working volume, or even less ... And the more powerful the boost, the greater the return. That is, a motor of the same volume, depending on the intake pressure, can be “overclocked” to different power values. What to do if the indices are "tied" to the volume?

Here, in general, it is worth mentioning that supercharging for Mercedes-Benz was by no means a novelty - back in 1900, Gottlieb Daimler patented the first supercharged engine with a Roots mechanical supercharger. They were equipped, in particular, with an in-line eight-cylinder 7.7-liter engine of the legendary limousine of the 30s Mercedes-Benz 770K (K - Kompressor), which was driven by Hitler, Mannerheim, Emperor Hirohito and Pope Pius IX. In the 90s, when technology took a step forward, the Germans remained faithful to mechanical superchargers for a long time (although not “roots”, but drive ones), and turbines were used mainly on diesel engines.

So, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class W202 had a C200 version with a 2-liter naturally aspirated M111 engine - it produced 134 horsepower. And there was also a version of the C200 Kompressor with the same engine of the same volume, but with a compressor and a return of 178 forces. Understandably? Quite.

Mercedes-Benz C-Class

Then, in the middle of the "zero" in the automotive fashion, there was an environmental trend. Automakers began vying to convince the customer that they care about the environment. And along with the compressor engines, turbocharged ones with layered fuel injection appeared - they received the letters CGI (Charged Gasoline Injection).

They also added the BlueEfficiency postscript to the indices, which indicated the use of an “eco-package”, which could include completely different improvements such as a start-stop system, tires with low rolling resistance, etc. There are no special motors with the BlueEfficiency system. exist.

With the heyday of the era of supercharging, a uniform confusion began, if not to say - a mess. Cars with the same 1.8-liter M271 engine, but with different "add-ons", had completely different indexes. Let's analyze all this using the example of the C-class in the back of the W203.

С180 Kompressor - a motor with a mechanical supercharger with a power of 143 hp.

C200 Kompressor - the same engine, boosted to 163 hp.

C230 Kompressor aka boosted to 192 hp

C200 CGI - it is the same, but with direct injection and a turbine instead of a supercharger, with a capacity of 170 hp.

And with all this, the “ordinary” C-class C180 was equipped with a generally different engine - the M111, which had little in common with the M271. Confused? And to understand, according to the idea of marketers, it is not necessary! The more numbers, the "cooler", that's the whole logic.

The era of downsizing

Realizing that the consumer has already lost orientation in volumes and modifications, the Mercedes went further. In 2008, a version of the M271 engine with a “truncated” cylinder block, a reduced piston stroke, a shortened crankshaft and a displacement of 1.6 liters instead of 1.8 debuted on the new C-class in the back of the W204. This is called the tricky word "downsizing" - literally, "downsizing." In fact, if this 1.6-liter engine can produce, given the injection setting, the same 154 horsepower as a 1.8-liter, then why not reduce the volume?

But if you think that the 1.6-liter C-class received the C160 index, then you are mistaken. It continues to be produced as the C180 with the appropriate attachments: Kompressor for supercharged versions and CGI for turbocharged versions. It’s good that C180s of different sizes were not sold in parallel - the 1.8-liter C180 was prudently discontinued in the same 2008.

The Mercedes 160 index, apparently, was considered “undignified”. The predecessor of the W204, the C-class in the body of the W203, was sold at one time with the C160 index (with a 1.8-liter aspirated), but, apparently, not very successfully.

Now the numbers 160 can only be found on the weakest diesel A-class, but even here it is a complete deception and confusion. A160 CDI is equipped with a 1.46-liter engine from Renault with a capacity of 89 hp, and “overclocked” to 108 hp. the version of the same engine flaunts the "adult" index A180 CDI BlueEfficiency ... Hmmm, but not long ago, when the A-class was a microvan, there were "honest" indexes A140 and A155 corresponding to the volume of engines!

The confusion in the numbers and letters of the Mercedes indices also reigns among the “high school students”. Just look at the plate of the engines of the modern E-class W212. The E200 CGI is a good old 1.8-liter turbocharged M271 that puts out 184 hp. The E250 CGI is the same, with a volume of 1.8 liters, but “overclocked” to 204 hp.

It cannot be said that "Mercedes is not the same now." As we found out at the very beginning of the article, there was never a complete order and reinforced concrete logic in the classification of a company.

Obviously, Mercedes-Benz keeps loyalty to the indices, regardless of the size of the engine, in the name of tradition. People are used to the numbers 200, 230 or 500 flaunting on the back of a car with a three-pointed star, and nothing can be done about it. At the same time, most of the happy owners do not even know what kind of engine they have, and the hood is opened only to fill in the glass washer fluid. I won’t be surprised if the indexes remain even when cars with internal combustion engines finally replace electric or, for example, hydrogen cars.

Usually, an Anti-Müllerian Hormone (or AMH for short) test is prescribed to clarify data from other hormonal studies when establishing the causes of infertility or in order to more accurately predict the success of in vitro fertilization.

Analyzing Anti-Mullerian hormone in women, it can be noted that this biologically active substance is produced regardless of the functioning of the endocrine system, including the pituitary gland, hypothalamus and other elements. The hormone is produced before the age when menopause occurs, by the cells of the primary follicles located in the ovaries.

In the body of men, Anti-Mullerian hormone is also present as an active and necessary participant in the process of spermatogenesis. Sertoli cells, the seminiferous tubules of the testicles, are responsible for its generation.

Since AMH is produced in male embryos almost from the very beginning of development, it is this hormone that by 8–10 weeks promotes the resorption of the Mullerian duct, from which the uterus should form in girls. Newborns also actively synthesize Anti-Müllerian hormone, the concentration of which reaches high values when the age of puberty sets in. In girls, this condition can be at 11 - 12 years old.

In men, puberty on average begins at 12 and sometimes continues until 19 years. Then, with a slight decrease, the level remains stable until the age of 40, after which it may fall a little more, but production does not stop until old age, while maintaining the male ability to conceive.

Role in the body

The functions of AMG (Anti-Müllerian Hormone) have several directions that allow you to trace what this biologically active substance is responsible for:

  • promoting the formation and further growth of tissues;
  • regulation of the reproductive abilities of the body, the purpose of which is the birth of a healthy child.

Female reproductive function in terms of Anti-Müllerian hormone reaches peak values around the age of 30, when the largest number of viable eggs is noted. A noticeable decrease in the production of A.M.G. begins after 40 years, and fading occurs after menopause, when synthesis stops, which indicates the absence of mature eggs.

The second figurative name “egg counter” was given to Anti-Mullerian hormone for the ability to determine the remaining follicle cells, which are the beginnings of monthly developing eggs, by its indicators.

Features of the analysis

To determine the functional reserve of the ovaries, the doctor may prescribe an extended Efort blood test for AMH. Before taking an analysis, it is advisable to familiarize yourself with the indications in which experts consider such a study to be mandatory:

  • problems with fertilization;
  • unsuccessful IVF attempts;
  • suspicion of the formation of polycystic ovaries;
  • monitoring the effectiveness of antiandrogen therapy;
  • infertility of unknown origin;
  • increased levels of follicle-stimulating hormone;
  • the need to identify or exclude the presence of a granulosa cell tumor of the ovaries;
  • determination of the reasons for the deviation of puberty.

The preparation recommended by the doctor for the delivery of analytical material is standard. It is necessary for three days to lead a calm life without stressful outbursts and high physical exertion, excluding the intake of hormones - thyroid and steroid. Between the last meal and going to the treatment room should be at least 8 hours. Another rule concerns the warning that alcohol and smoking are excluded on the day of the test.

You need to take this important analysis in a healthy state. If there are signs of SARS. SARS, acute stages of other diseases, it is first necessary to recover from them. The question often arises on which day of the cycle to donate venous blood for research on A.M.G. The most reliable results are obtained if this is done on day 3.

The cost of conducting analytical studies in different laboratories can range from 800 to 2500 rubles.

normal hormone levels

To evaluate the data obtained after the analysis, it is necessary to know the norms of Anti-Müllerian hormone in women, which tend to change depending on her age (Table 1).

Table 1 - A.M.G. - the average norm in women, in ng / ml.

Age24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31
Value4.1 4,1 4,2 3,7 3,8 3,5 3,2 3,1
Age32 33 34 35 36 37 38 39
Value2,5 2,6 2,3 2,1 1,8 1,6 1,4 1,3
Age40 41 42 43 44 45 46-47 48
Value1,1 1,0 0,9 0,7 0,6 0,5 0,4 0,2

Up to 8 - 9 years, the AMH hormone in girls is in the range of 1.7 - 5.3 ng / ml. It should be borne in mind that these indicators are indicators indicating the required number of antral follicles located in the ovaries. It is possible to talk about a decrease in their functional reserve at values< 1,1 нг / мл.

Reference values in prepubertal women are< 8,9 нг / мл. При исследовании в третий – пятый день цикла показатели составляют 1, 0 – 10,6, а при менопаузе < 1,9 нг / мл.

The level of A.M.G. is controlled in girls in Western practice. from 12 years old. If an excessive decrease is observed from the age of 14, then they resort to egg freezing in order to ensure the appearance of offspring in the future.

If the value of Anti-Müllerian hormone is 3 or slightly higher (up to 4.2 ng / ml) at the age of 24 - 31 years, then this indicates that a woman will be able to conceive and bear a healthy baby.

Reasons for downgrading or promotion

When using tables with indicators of norms, the data of analytical studies are decoded to the level of A.M.G. Only a qualified endocrinologist, after studying the test result, can conclude whether the female body has a pathological change, and what treatment will eliminate it.

If an elevated level was detected, then the following factors could provoke it:

  • delayed sexual development, expressed in the fact that a girl at the age of 12 and a little older has not yet had her period;
  • ovarian neoplasms in the form of granulosa cell tumors;
  • disturbances in the functioning of the LH receptor.

A high level of Anti-Müllerian hormone can be detected if a woman does not ovulate, as a result of which she was diagnosed with normogonadotropic anovulatory infertility. It is also able to increase anti-Mullerian hormone developing polycystic ovaries.

The concentration will increase with the mutation of A.M.G. receptor. It is also possible to detect deviations in the A.M.G. towards a significant decrease, which can also indicate serious problems. Typically, a low level manifests itself in the following conditions of the body:

  • a decrease in the ovarian reserve, that is, the ovarian reserve laid down from birth;
  • excessively early (much younger than 11-12 years old) sexual development, expressed in the appearance of signs of maturation as early as 8 years old;
  • early menopause;
  • disturbances in the development of the gonads, sometimes expressed in their complete absence - gonadal dysgenesis;
  • lack of sex hormones - hypogonadotropic hypogonadism;
  • abuse of alcoholic beverages, smoking, drug-containing substances;
  • obesity observed by the end of the reproductive age.

Most often, women are concerned about the problem, if the Anti-Müllerian hormone is lowered, is it possible to get pregnant, and what method is advisable to use.

If Anti-Mullerian hormone is 0 08 - 0 11 ng / ml, then doctors resort to the IVF procedure. It should be noted that if the indicator is less than 08, that is, if zero is fixed, the process will be ineffective, since the quality of the egg will not meet the necessary criteria.

Too high levels of Anti-Müllerian hormone will also be unsuitable for IVF, as this can lead to the development of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome. According to some reports, healing is more successful if the procedure was scheduled for the summer, and not for the winter or November, since in the presence of bright sunlight, the hormone level is higher.

Normalization methods

Signs of low Anti-Müllerian hormone are an irregular menstrual cycle, prolonged absence of pregnancy, constant fatigue, hot flashes. In such situations, it is necessary to decide how to increase the level and whether it can be done effectively enough.

It should be noted that for the development of viable eggs, their artificial stimulation is carried out, followed by IVF. It is impossible to raise the hormonal level if an early menopause has come. Also in other clinical cases with the detection of low Anti-Müllerian hormone, effective treatment is practically impossible, since the ovarian reserve cannot grow, since it has a stable value. But according to the results of the test, it becomes possible to timely treat diseases that caused the deviation of the level of A.M.G. from the norm.

If an excessively elevated A.M.G. is detected, then when prescribing traditional treatment or when using folk remedies, many factors are taken into account - age, causes, comorbidities, etc. For example, with polycystic ovary syndrome, measures are needed that lead to its elimination - normalization of weight, a balanced diet, optimal physical activity, sufficient rest. Then therapy is prescribed to normalize the hormonal status.

What is AMG
Perhaps it is necessary to start with the abbreviation AMG. Contrary to popular misconception, it actually contains the names of the founders of the company and the city in which one of them was born. And AMG itself appeared exactly half a century ago - in 1967, when Hans Werner Aufrecht and Erhard Melcher founded a small company (actually a garage) for tuning cars with the long name Aufreht Melher Grobaspach Ingenieurburo, Konstruction und Versuch zur Entwicklung von Rennmotoren, which means : AMG engineering office for the design and testing of racing engines. And abbreviated - AMG.

Already in 1971, AMG becomes famous, in the truest sense of the word, overnight. This night, the Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL 6.8 AMG, nicknamed the "Red Boar", won its class and finished 2nd overall in the 24-hour race at Spa. Then, in 1976, there was a victory in Monza for the 450 SLC Mompe sports car. In 1986, the Mercedes-Benz AMG 300E 5.6 Hummer became the first sedan to break the 300 km/h speed limit. But all these years, AMG has been just one of the many tuning houses that have been refining Mercedes-Benz.

The company acquires a special status and distinction from others already in 1990, when Mercedes-Benz signs a partnership agreement with AMG. In 1993, as a result of this cooperation, the Mercedes C 36 AMG, developed jointly, appears.

In 1998, mass production of the famous "cube" Mercedes G 55 AMG starts - in fact the first SUV with a serious level of improvements. And in 1999 the company changes its name to Mercedes-AMG GmbH.

But the official status of the court studio, the company receives only in 2005, when Daimler Chrysler bought out 100% of Mercedes-AMG. Already in 2008, the first engine developed by AMG appeared. And in 2009, AMG starts producing its own vehicles with the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG.

The company is doing great. In 2013, 30,000 AMG vehicles were sold. And in 2014, sales compared to 2013 increase by another 48%. 2015 is also a record year – up 44% compared to 2014. Today, AMG employs 1,500 employees, and production facilities occupy more than 80,000 m2.

AMG and Ukraine
It should be noted that among connoisseurs of Mercedes-Benz in Ukraine, the magic of AMG has been known for a long time. For example, the same legendary "cube" G55 AMG sold hundreds of us. The iconic Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG also found its buyers in Ukraine. But all these years, AMG did not have its own home in Ukraine.

And now - the first and largest auto show AMG Performance Center in Eastern Europe in Ukraine. How is it different from a regular Mercedes-Benz showroom?

As Yaroslav Prigara, General Director of AvtoKapital, told AUTO-Consulting, there are specialists in maintenance and sales who have undergone special training at AMG. These are top notch professionals.

In addition, there are AMG test cars in the showroom, which potential customers can drive and see the difference with conventional MVs. Previously, this could only be done using "pictures".

Naturally, the salon has a special interior design, design and materials that are only in such centers and nowhere else. As they say, they also help to create an AMG atmosphere. plunge into it

But not only one car dealership will now delight customers. In addition, thanks to the AMG Performance Center, Ukrainians have joined the special events of the company. Including topics that are held by German instructors in closed areas, as was the case at the Mercedes-Benz Star Experience at Boryspil Airport. The AMG showroom is not only a point of sale, but also a home for AMG fans with club elements, details of which will be announced in 2018.

And, of course, almost the entire range of AMG cars is presented in the AMG showroom. The cabin fits 7 cars at once. You can look at them, sit in them, feel every seam and line, and compare different finishing materials.

By the way, soon it will be even more difficult to compare. In the next few years, 8 more models will appear in the lineup, which will exist only in the AMG version. They will not be performed by Mercedes-Benz.

What is the difference between AMG cars and Mercedes-Benz?

As it became known to the AUTO-Consulting correspondent, today there are three options to join the magical abbreviation AMG. The first is the simplest, called the AMG package. At the request of the owner and for an additional fee, it can be ordered as an option for Mercedes-Benz. In this case, the car can get exactly the same exterior and/or interior design as in AMG cars. Or some "amgash" elements of such a design, but the engine and suspension will remain standard.

The next step is the AMG Sport package. In such cars, in addition to the exterior and interior design of AMG, engines are already installed that have been chip-tuned at AMG. In addition, AMG specialists can change the suspension settings in such cars. But the power units themselves are traditional Mercedes engines.

And finally, the highest level is AMG Performance. That is, Mercedes-AMG cars, in which the design, design, engines, suspension, transmission, and brakes are from AMG. For example, such a real "amgesh" car - Mercedes-Benz GLE 63 AMG. According to Yaroslav Prygara, AvtoKapital plans to sell at least a hundred such truly sporty and outstanding cars next year.

And if there is still not enough money for a real AMG, in the cabin you can listen to how different AMG engines sound, and at least dream about such a car.

By the way, AMG also has silent models. AMG introduced its first electric sports car in 2012. This is the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Electric Drive. And he became the first mass-produced electric sports car. By the way, today Ukraine presented a new product from Mercedes-Benz – the GLE 500e hybrid SUV. About him and other hybrid and electric models with a three-beam star, as well as why they are bought in Ukraine, AUTO-Consulting will tell in the coming days.
