Don't starve together survival tips. Step-by-step instructions for surviving in the world of Don't Starve

This Don ’t Starve Together guide will walk you through the initial stages of the game, as well as help players get comfortable in the dangerous world of the isometric sandbox.

At the start

The world in the game is randomly generated, but some things can be influenced, with which the settings before the start will help you. Beginners are advised to set the generation of carrots in the world to more / more, and bushes with berries lots / a lot. As soon as you appear in the world, I immediately advise you to accumulate grass, flint and branches. In addition, be sure to collect 12 flowers to create a wreath for the character - it will protect him from clouding his mind. It is also advised to accumulate about 40 stones and seven gold nuggets in order to ensure further development.

Berries can be obtained from bushes growing in glades and forests. If you dig up a whole bush, then the berries will fall, and you will need to collect them. You need berries for food in the early stages of the game. Subsequently, if you want to grow your own plantation, you will have to fence it, otherwise you risk losing your crop due to turkey attacks. Carrots are also a starter type of food that is easy to get.

The grass you will need to start a fire, and grows well in the rain. Branches are generally a universal resource - you create tools for extracting resources from them, and branches are also used as fuel or an ingredient. From the branches you can create everything that is most important and necessary, that's why they are so important.

Once you have one flint and one branch, you can combine them to create an axe. With it, you will start mining wood. Also create a pickaxe next to mine flint from simple stones. The first 4-5 days you can explore the world, collect resources and survive, but then difficulties begin, which are eliminated by building a dwelling. They advise you to find a path that will lead you to the village of pigs, in which you will have protection and food.

Nevertheless, before building a dwelling, you should learn more about each biome (climatic zones of the game).

Houses

The savannah is full of herbs and rabbits, so you definitely won't die from lack of food. The main disadvantage of the savannah is that there is nowhere to hide. It is difficult to exist in it at the start of the game.

The glade is rich in resources - trees, branches, berries, carrots, etc. The disadvantage of the zone is that there are practically no stones and boulders in it that provide you with flint.

The pig village is an excellent place to build your first home. Here you have protective fences and plenty of food. The village is traditionally located in a larch forest, including the king pig, as well as in an ordinary forest, where there are many berries and herbs. The pigs in Don 't Starve love to eat, so your rabbit traps can be emptied before you arrive.

Having carefully studied the local features, animals, plants and other details, you can start building your home. A good option would be to build a house in a pig village next to a water source. Build a fire, and then a scientific machine, if resources allow, then build an alchemical engine.

1. Scientific machine - you can build it from a gold nugget, four logs and stones. With the help of a scientific machine, various items are created using scrolls, as well as an alchemical engine. 2. Alchemy engine - with its help you can create objects from gold, as well as study more complex scrolls. The engine is created in two ways. The first requires 6 gold nuggets, two stone blocks and four planks. The second requires four planks, two stone blocks, and two electric gizmos.

The next step is to create a backpack that will allow you to carry more resources, so you can go on long journeys.

Do not forget to study the scrolls to create a helmet, armor and spear. After that, it is worth studying the scrolls to create a shovel and a razor. With a shovel, any bush is subject to you, herbs and branches. A razor will help to get a spider beard.

night monsters

It can be very difficult for beginners in the first nights, because they simply do not know what to expect. Below is a list of tips to make it easier for you.

1. Always have a torch in your inventory. It will be needed in any case, because it will help you reach the fire, or survive the last hours before dawn. 2. Night monsters will start attacking if you don't have a torch. In this case, you should at least have a helmet and armor that will save you from imminent death. Equipment will increase the number of hits that need to be made on your character. Of course, your equipment in this case will be disposable, but you will survive the night. Not having a torch at night will significantly damage your sanity, so be aware. 3. There is a game option without torches and helmets - play as Willow, who can be unlocked as a character after 8 days of survival. She always has a lighter with her, so torches are not needed. 4. Mandragora - if you managed to find it, and there are few opportunities to survive the night, then just eat it to sleep through the night in safety. 5. Building a tent in the camp is guaranteed to protect you from the night, because you can just sleep in it. 6. A sleeping bag will help you on hikes away from the camp. 7. By putting fireflies in the chest, you can have a weak light source with you.

Campaigns and development

Once you learn how to survive at night and create items, you can dare to go on your first trip. Don't worry if you fail the first time and die an inglorious death. All you need to know is - during the day, explore the territory calmly, and from the onset of the evening, start to beware of enemies. In addition, going out on a hike without any plan is a bad idea, as practice shows. Try to open 3-4 cocoons to get the monster meat and web. To survive, you can burn trees to get coal from them, but you need to follow the process, because if you burn the whole forest, then there will be only carbon dioxide around, which will cause most of the trees to die, and you will lose wood. To set fire, you just need to click on the torch and aim at the tree by clicking on it too. During the hike, do not be lazy to dig up berry bushes, which you can plant in your camp upon arrival. Berries on the bushes will appear every 3 days, but each time you also have to fertilize the bush with manure. When night falls, simply re-fry the food. If there are enough resources, then create a cauldron in which you can cook improved food.

Battles and swamp

If you're nearing Day 10 of Survival in Don 't Starve, then the time for battle is near. Between the 7th and 10th day, your hero will begin to whisper that he hears someone, and a growl will be heard nearby. In principle, if you have already managed to settle in the village of pigs, then you have nothing to worry about - run around in a circle, and the hounds will subsequently retreat.

But in the case when you do not have a house and normal weapons, then you should urgently go to the swamps, where you will find new weapons. Proximity to the swamp can be determined by the purple color of the turf, follow it, collecting reeds. You will eventually encounter hostile tentacles whose spikes can be harvested and used as weapons. To do this, wait until the tentacle just peeks out of the ground, then attack it and immediately run away. Playing as Wolfgang, you can kill the monster in 16 hits with an axe. Actually, you can go for tentacles even on the first day, and you will have enough spikes for 20 days.

There is a second extraction option - find on the map the dwellings of the merms, which in appearance resemble dilapidated pig houses. They are usually located in swamps, and battles often take place next to them - merms are very fond of fighting with tentacles. You are not required to participate in the fight - just wait until the next tentacle is overthrown, then run up and pick up the dropped prey. But you can also wait for the death of one of the merms, because they usually have more useful equipment. You will find French food, spikes, inedible gizmos and more.

If you cannot find merms, then there is an option to encounter spiders, which also fight with tentacles. The spiders have decent health regeneration gear, but you have to wait until they kill the tentacle to get the spikes.

The winter is coming!

As the saying goes, prepare your sleigh for the winter in the summer. You have to take care of your safety before the arrival of winter, because there you will have little chance of survival. For a comfortable life in winter, you need to find Beefalo - these are animals similar to yaks, killing which you will get wool. Killing one beefalo will give you 3 wool and 4 meat. You yourself understand that you need exactly 20 pieces of wool in order not to freeze in winter, and this will save you from bifalo winter mating games. To avoid this, you will need to craft a beefalo hat with 8 wool and a beefalo horn. It is important to know that killing peaceful animals like beefalos, rabbits, etc. adds you mischief points, which will cause Krampus to be called later. Krampus is a demon that steals your stuff.

Mischief points - for killing a beefalo you get 4 points. The maximum value at the start is 50 prank points, after which Krampus appears. Every minute takes away one point of mischief from you, so if you rarely kill animals, then the points will stand still. Having reached the maximum value of prank once, it will increase. You can kill Krampus to get back the stolen items.

Set up a hive near your house to collect healthy honey for the winter. Create a sweatshirt for winter - 1 koala elephant trunk and 8 webs. Koaloslephant can be found by the footprints it leaves on the ground. You will also need a ranged weapon like a boomerang. And as soon as the bullfinches begin to fly, you should know that winter is coming.

It will not be superfluous to provide yourself with a farm and, some kind of protection. For the prosperity of the farm, you need to collect manure after bifalo, you can also find it after pigs, but if you feed them with vegetables, flowers or berries. Having built a farm, fertilize it with manure without sparing. 2 manure gives one vegetable. Vegetables can be stored in the refrigerator so they don't go to waste. Leather helmets are required for protection.

Don't go crazy!

Survival in Don 't Starve is impossible if your hero starts going crazy. To get rid of this disease, you will need to collect flowers, which add 5 points of sanity each. Also don't forget to make a wreath of 12 flowers.

To take a hit, you'll have to create magical weapons and armor, which you need to get the fuel of horror. Dread fuel is obtained by exploring graves, or by killing horrors, ghosts, and rabbit beards. To fight these monsters, you will have to have good equipment in the form of a spear, spikes, armor and a helmet. If your sanity is below 80, then you can just conduct a quiet and calm hunt for rabbit beards. The fastest, but also riskiest way is to bend down into the wormhole, and then kill the horrors and all the creatures. Sanity will start to increase after killing horrors, so it's a good idea to stock up on monster meat, which reduces sanity. You can restore your sanity after collecting fuel with a sleeping bag.

When things got easy

Once you get used to winter, build a great farm and house, and be able to kill swamp monsters once or twice, then Maxwell's portal should be tested. Using the portal, you can start the game in a new generated world, but for a different character. By the way, this is the only way to start the game for another hero, while transferring things from the inventory with you to the new world.

An interesting test will be Maxwell's door, which teleports you to the world of eternal night and winter, among which the terrible Maxwell roams.

Subtleties

When you make a hammer, you can destroy the houses of pigs, in which only a pig lives. Stray pigs at midnight will turn into evil and dangerous. From two destroyed houses you can build one whole.

Beefalo - if you see that they have filled the whole space, then boldly exterminate them.

If there are many pigs in the village, and there is not enough food for everyone, then try to feed one of them with monster meat in the amount of 4 pieces, after which it will become a werewolf. Peaceful pigs will kill her, and you will get resources, at the same time getting rid of an extra mouth.

Pigs are very useful - they help you in battles, as well as when cutting down trees.

If you find stakes with pig heads, then quickly take them down. For two stakes, you can build a pig house. Usually the stakes are placed next to the altars in the swamps.

Guide for beginners in the game Don "t Starve Together

The main emphasis in the game is on the character's survival in adverse conditions next to terrible (and not so) creatures. The article will give general tips that apply regardless of the installed add-ons to the game.

1 - spend time wisely

On the first day from the moment the game starts, the character is practically not hungry and the value scale will only go down towards night. Therefore, on the first day, it is necessary to scout the nearest area for resources, food, and in general for better orientation for the construction of a permanent camp. The night can also be spent with benefit. To do this, place a fire near trees or stones and, being in the light, continue to extract valuable materials: wood, stone, gold, silicon.

But it is best to stock up on torches for the first night and continue reconnaissance of the area.
During the second day, you need to collect food, which can be enough for a couple of days and decide on the site for building the camp. Also for this day, it is desirable to collect flowers and make a wreath that will allow you to replenish the level of "intelligence" of the character.

2 - the perfect place for "home"

The camp should be built on the "meadow" biome, since it is on it that the most edible vegetation is located, as well as flowers that are important in the game.

In addition, the camp should be placed on the coast, so you save on resources in building a wall, since one side becomes protected by the sea.

It is advisable to place the camp near the biffalo or pigs. Since the former are needed as a source of manure for the construction of beds and fertilizing berry bushes and grass. Pigs can become your allies, provided that you feed them meat. Both types of neighbors can help when attacked by hounds or spiders.

3 - arrangement of the camp

The camp is the main shelter of the character. Accordingly, it must be equipped. To begin with, a simple fire pit, several beds, a cauldron and a scientific machine will do. As far as possible, it is necessary to fence it off from the monsters with a wall. Also, don't forget that random lightning can set fire to a device or building and cause a fire in the camp, so it's also worth placing a few lightning rods.

When creating a wall, make several possible passes. Protecting them from hostile monsters is possible with the help of pigs or beefalos (or if you have built a camp near pastures with them). It is also possible to create nests of spiders and wasps. In this case, you should be careful yourself.

Do not plant trees inside the walls of the camp, as the treant may appear. In addition, it increases the risk of fire during the summer season.

Create conditions for multiple biomes to grow different plants. For example, reed, cactus, etc.

4 - don't go into battle unprepared

Most opponents in the game can easily kill a character. Therefore, it is worth researching the spear and armor in the science machine as soon as possible. But even in this case, contractions can be a serious danger. Prepare a couple of medicinal ointments and poultices before attacking the enemy.
Use pigs and beefalos to deal with the enemy. Set monsters against each other or against pre-prepared traps.

5 - prepare for the seasons in advance

The upcoming season is winter, it is characterized by a decrease in temperature, which leads to freezing of the hero, which can lead to death. To avoid this, it is worth stocking up on resources, namely: firewood to maintain the fire; food, because vegetables and berries stop growing at sub-zero temperatures, and rabbits hibernate.

It is also worth making a few heating stones. They are versatile and can help in the winter, keeping the heat from the fire for quite a long time, and in the summer, if you first place it in the refrigerator, it will be able to fight the heat.

By the beginning of winter, it is also worth building a refrigerator to stock up on ice for the summer, which will allow the player to endure the heat more easily. In addition, the refrigerator will allow you to accumulate much more supplies before winter.

Also, before the onset of summer, it is worth making several “snow machines” that will irrigate the ground in a certain area, preventing the beds or bushes from self-igniting. In addition, vegetables and berries do not grow in hot weather, this machine will allow you not to stop growing them.

6 - create your farms

Build pig houses around the camp, this will protect your camp in case of attack. In addition, pigs can be killed and the corresponding ingredients can be obtained.

Create some golden cages and place birds in them, and don't forget to feed them otherwise they will die. They allow you to process vegetables into seeds, which will also have names and will be able to grow a specific plant.

Among other things, it is also worth equipping a small biffalo settlement near the camp, if they are located far on the map and it is difficult to visit them for a portion of fertilizer.
The same goes for breeding rabbits and bees. And to avoid bee stings, you should get a "beekeeper's hat."

7 - use the tricks of the game

  • The game has flaws that may have been deliberately left by the developers.
For example, in a cauldron, food can remain fresh (or in the state in which it was placed) indefinitely. Also live birds, rabbits and butterflies can be stored in chests.
  • Ents spawn when cutting down a lot of trees, and can be easily pacified by planting a few cones. Also, the chance of the appearance of an ent increases when burning trees for the purpose of mining coal. But it is possible to avoid this. For the first case, you can use pigs for cutting. In the second, it is enough to make a fire near the forest, and the trees will burn themselves.
  • After a lightning strike into a lightning rod, it begins to glow; under various circumstances, it can continue to emit light for several nights. It is also possible to spend the night without a torch and a fire, for this you just need to run between groups of fireflies.
  • Different monsters take more damage from certain types of weapons. For example, spiders from fire, hounds from a spear and a spiked stick, McTusks from fire darts and a shadow sword.
  • During rain from toads, it is possible to place them in the area where beehives or wasps are located. To do this, it is worth running into that area and not going beyond until the end of the rain. Thus, you can get ingredients without damage to yourself. It is also possible to push them with spiders.
  • Watch out for the swamp, but visit from time to time. There are often battles between tentacles and merms (inhabitants of the swamp) and after them there are usually good items left.

Of course, Don't Starve requires a lot more knowledge about the world and its inhabitants, but they can be easily found individually on the Internet. The article was given only general advice to new players who encountered a problem in the form of an unfriendly environment and rather complex game mechanics.

Entry into the game. First days.

We wake up in a green meadow, in a completely new world for us and ..... begin to survive.

We look around and waste no time collecting wood and stones necessary for crafting the first items.

Replenishment of inventory:

Logs x20; Cones x5-10; Cut grass x20; Branches x20, Stones x20, Flint x20
The more you collect these resources, the better.

We will also need: Carrot x10; Berries x10 for food and bait.

We collect flowers along the way. Having collected 12 flowers, we can weave a wreath. Restores 5 Sanity when harvested and 1 Health when consumed.

Crafting the first items:
Axe: Branches x1; Flint x1. For logging with subsequent production of logs, cones and charcoal.
Pick: Branches x2; Flint x2. It is intended for the destruction of boulders and the production of stone, flint and gold nuggets.
Shovel:Branches x2; Flint x2. For ruin digging graves, bushes, grass, etc.
Science Machine:Gold Nugget x1; Logs x4; Stones x4. Gives us more crafting options. We put it near the fire.
Box: Boards x3. Will give us 9 additional slots for non-essential items.
Backpack: Branches x4; Grass x4. Will expand our inventory by 8 additional slots.
Trap: Branches x2; Grass x6. For catching rabbits and spiders.
Wreath: Petals x12; To calm your nerves ;)
A spear: Branches x2; Rope x1; Flint x1. Help us to defend and attack.
Wooden armor:Logs x8; Rope x2. From paws, teeth and claws.
Fireplace: Logs x2; Stones x12. Add fuel and get a reliable light source at the base.
Torch: Grass x2; Branches x2 (Except Willow). We can safely run to the base without fear of Charlie. Also for the extraction of charcoal and ashes.
Alchemy machine:Gold nugget x6; Stone block x2; Boards x4. Will give us even more opportunities for crafting. Once installed, the Science Machine can be destroyed
The hammer: Branches x2; Stones x3; Rope x2. Allows you to break many objects. For example, boar houses, pig heads near the altar and all objects installed by the player.

After we get these wonderful artifacts (pick, ax), we need to decide on a place for the base.

Base search.

The point of our appearance is usually the center of the map. It is much more profitable to open the nearest area and choose the most suitable one for us on the first day. (Minimap - TAB)
It is best to settle close (screen-two distance) from beefalos or pigs. In a clearing biome, next to a savannah or forest.

After collecting items, we return to the chosen place (which later can become our main base) and put a fire on it. Why a fire pit? It burns better, there is a mark on the map, constant use.

  • Worm-hole: A portal to move from one part of the map to another. Decreases sanity when moving. The 2 wormholes are always connected. Teleports friendly creatures behind us.
  • House of the Pig: House for pigs. They are lit up at night.
  • Cocoon: House for spiders. It has 3 stages of growth. Around the cocoon is a web that slows down movement.
  • Karst funnel: The entrance to the caves, littered with stones. Don't go there without gear.
  • Grave:("-It says: Milk. Eggs. Bacon") It is a small earth pile. They often have headstones. You can also find a whole cemetery in the forest.
  • Altar: It is a fragment of stone, surrounded by the heads of pigs impaled on a peak. If we activate the altar, then after death we will be reborn on it. Once destroyed, the portal cannot be used again.
  • Roads: Connect the game world. They speed us up by 50 percent. Shown on the map.
  • Pond:For catching fish. There are several types, depending on the location.
  • Maxwell Portal: If you collect 5 strange parts for the portal, you can be transported to a newly generated world and change your character.

We will also meet skeletons. Apparently those who were not too lucky before us. Near the skeletons there are always useful items related to their occupation. For example, near the beekeeper's skeleton, there is usually a beekeeper's hat, a mine and a net.

practical gardening

First we need to choose where we want to garden. At or near your main base. I prefer the closer option, as it gets rid of the clutter of beds, dryers, and chests.

It is desirable that the farm be located near Bifalo, for more convenient collection of manure. It is also worth remembering that if the House of Pigs is nearby, then they will eat up the seeds.

Basic bed: 8 herbs, 4 manure, 4 logs. Growth: 40 daylight hours. 20 uses.

Improved garden:10 grass, 6 manure, 4 stone. Growth: 20 daylight hours. 30 uses

Created for a constant influx of vegetables and fruits. We plant seeds, fertilize and after a while we get botany, for cooking sweets in a cauldron. For starters, 4-6 beds are enough for us.

On the beds can grow: Carrots; Corn; eggplant; Pumpkin; Garnet; Durian; Pitaya.

Helpful information: The beds have limited use (20-30). After that, additional fertilizer is required. Although it is much easier to break and build another in its place. Some vegetables grow from seeds much more often (like carrots, corn). The seeds only grow during the day. Growth also stops if the temperature is below 5 degrees. In high temperature and in rain, growth is increased by 100%. To grow the plant we need, we need to give its raw fruit to a bird in a cage. The seeds that she will give, with 100% probability, will grow into the plant we need. For fertilizing the beds is used: Manure; Rot; Rotten eggs and Guano. They will increase the growth rate.

Golden cage for our birds:

Craft cells: Gold Nugget x6 Papyrus x2 Seeds x2
After we have caught the bird with the trap, we drag it into the cage.
  • By feeding a bird with a raw fruit or vegetable, we get special seeds from which we are guaranteed to grow the right fruit. It is also possible to get additional seeds.
  • By giving the bird any kind of meat (except monster meat) or a fried egg, we get a fresh egg.
  • You can also give spoiled birds and get fresh eggs in return.
  • If we give a bird a spoiled seed, we will get a completely fresh one in return.

Cauldron or endless food storage:

Actually the whole point is in the title. The fact is that the product cooked in a cauldron can be stored for an unlimited amount of time. So we stock up on the necessary items and craft 4-6 pieces. It is best to put them side by side.

It is convenient to build a small road from our main base to the farm. For faster collection of loot.

Cultivation of bushes, branches and grass:

What for? We will always have the necessary resources nearby.
Everything is simple. We take a shovel and go to stagger around the map. We dig up berry bushes x20, branches x20, grass x20. Restocking will be a bonus.

Upon returning to the farm, we plant in a place convenient for us and fertilize. After 5-6 days, the bushes will begin to bear fruit.

Advice: It is better to plant berry bushes in small groups, at a distance from each other. for there is always the possibility of a lightning strike that will burn everything to the ground and make us sob over the charred bushes and trees. So after the transplant, we are looking for gold nuggets in our pockets. Objective: Make a Lightning Rod as soon as possible.

In this section, we will look at hunting harmless creatures. For visualization, I bring my farm:
First of all, we need dryers.

An indispensable item for packing dried meat for the winter or hiking in a cave. If there are several dryers with meat, we will not stay hungry.

We create 4-6 dryers (or as many as you want) and put them in a place convenient for us in two rows. One row: Regular Meat, Second Row: Monster Meat. Does not deteriorate while in the dryer.

Drying meat takes 1-2 in-game days. depending on the type of meat.

Rabbit hunting:

We create 4-6 traps, put the bait near the holes and whistling we go about our business. Update traps from time to time. We put the rabbits in a chest.

You can also hunt with a bush hat. To do this, you need to put the bait and pretend to be a bush. When the victim approaches, boldly beat her with a spear or other weapon. This method is also suitable for hunting turkeys.

Bird hunting:

We create 4-6 traps for birds, put the bait (Birds can fall into the trap without it) it can be berries, seeds, meat or that indigestible canoe that we cooked up in a cauldron. We will update after a while.

Spiders:

An endless source of spider glands, webs and meat. It is advisable to have several pig houses nearby and, if necessary, set them on spiders.

To destroy the cocoon, use rabbit traps. After some of the spiders are caught, we calmly destroy the cocoon of any level. Destroy only if dangerous location.

From the cocoon of the third level, the Queen of Spiders can appear. This is quite a serious adversary. We put on a spider hat and attract spiders OR pigs and bifalo to help.

Pigs:

A Piggy House built will produce one Pig and respawn after a few days. Can be hired for meat to fight creatures and cut down forests.

You can also put on different hats and give them funny names (Or lower your mind and find out the real ones). At least it's funny :)

Butterflies:

It is best to catch butterflies when exploring the map and plant them near the farm (they will turn into flowers). It is advisable to plant not in the player's line of sight, otherwise they will not appear. In this case, we will always have the opportunity to quickly get butterfly wings. It also increases the chance of obtaining oil.

Extra butterflies can be put in a chest, as they do not have an expiration date, or you can make Muffins out of them.

Home apiary:

We put the created Hives at a small distance from the farm, and turn the butterflies into flowers. In this case, we will always have a lot of honey.

To collect the honey of our bees, it is better to use beekeeper's hat. For an attempt at vandalism, the bees will show aggression.

Fireflies:
You can catch it with a net and release it at the base. In the evening they shine very beautifully. They will be useful to us in the future.

Bifalo:

An endless source of dung, wool and, in rare cases, meat. It also provides us with protection from aggressive creatures.

Beefalo hat will protect us from the attack of these creatures during the mating season.

Fishing:

We need a fishing rod and a pond.
Before starting fishing, it is better to kill the frogs nearby. From their paws in a cauldron you can make delicious sandwiches ^^

Directly catching:

For a few seconds, the fish will have very sad eyes, you can close your eyes so that your conscience does not torment you.

Don "t Starve is an exciting survival game. The more successfully you play it, the more available characters with unique skills and abilities you will unlock. Your first character will be Wilson, a gentleman scientist trapped by the demon Maxwell in this The essence of the game is to survive by finding food and protecting yourself from the hostile inhabitants of the surrounding world, and then also return home.

Steps

Part 1

How to survive the first day

Collect Twigs (branches) and Cut Grass (grass). Yes, the game is not translated into Russian, so get used to it. So, at the beginning of the game, you need to collect enough Twigs to be able to chop down trees. However, branches can be taken from the ground. Also, peel off all the grass to get as much Cut Grass as possible.

    • Axes and torches are made from Twig.
    • Twigs, among other things, is also a source of fuel.
    • Cut Grass is needed for traps, torches, campfire and starting armor - but it's not the first day.
  1. Collect Flint, Rock and Wood. As you wander around the world, you will find Flint and Stones, respectively, lying on the ground here and there. Later you will be able to mine them from cobblestones, but that's later when you have a pickaxe.

    • 1 Twig and 1 Flint make an axe.
    • Right-click to select an ax from the menu, then right-click on a tree - this will start chopping it.
    • From the felled tree you will get Pinecones (cones, plant them and new trees will grow) and Wood (tree). The flame from Wood burns longer than from any other fuel.
    • The durability of the ax is 100 units, as a weapon it deals 27.2 damage to enemies.
    • 2 Twigs and 2 Flints make a pickaxe.
  2. Collect food. Food is a very important aspect of the game, because, as the name implies, you should not starve. Luckily, there are plenty of food around that you just need to pick up: Berries (berries), Carrots (carrots), Rabbits (rabbits) and Frogs (frogs).

    • If you want to survive the first day, pick 5-10 berries.
    • Hunger parameter (hunger) dropped to 80%? Eat. If hunger is over 80, then don't eat.
    • Make a Trap out of 6 Cut Grass and 2 Twigs. Place the trap next to a rabbit hole or next to a pond for rabbits and frogs respectively. You can leave the trap further, the main thing is to visit it from time to time to check if anyone has fallen there. If caught, the trap will shake, and you can pick it up along with the captured animal.
    • To get meat, drag the loot from the menu belt to the ground. The animal will freeze for a couple of seconds - this should be enough for you to beat it with an ax.
    • By the way, food spoils, so collect food only when stocks are running low.
    • Only the following products do not spoil: Tailbird Eggs, Mandrakes, Deerclops Eyeballs and Guardian's Horn.
    • Any food can be eaten raw, but cooked food saturates better, and health restores more.
  3. Build Campfire (Bivouac). This is the foundation of the basics in the matter of survival. A fire is light, it is heat, it is a hearth for cooking! Build a fire when it begins to get dark, keep within the circle of light when darkness falls, for the night is dark and full of terrors.

    • For Campfire you need 2 Wood and 3 Cut Grass. Remember that you should not keep flammable objects near the fire, as well as make a fire near them. In other words - no trees, bushes and grass next to the fire!
    • Campfire only burns for 2 minutes and 15 seconds if you don't throw wood into it. The main thing is not to overdo it, otherwise bushes, trees and grass growing nearby will flare up, and this can lead to a forest fire!
    • A Fire Pit type bonfire will be safer, but more expensive in terms of materials.
    • Torch (torch) will also fit as a source of light in the night, but, alas, it will only last for a minute, after which darkness will envelop you and the monsters will arrange the end of the game for you.
  4. Collect Gold (gold). In the morning, continue collecting food and supplies. Break the cobblestones with a pickaxe in search of gold, go to the cemeteries - by the way, they are hard to miss - there is fog and an eerie atmosphere.

Sew Backpack (backpack). The backpack increases your inventory by as much as 8 slots. For those who have not yet decided on the place to build the base, a backpack is a must.

    • The backpack is sewn using the Science Machine building, 4 Cut Grass and 4 Twigs.
    • In turn, building a Science Machine requires 1 Gold, 4 Wood and 4 Rocks.

    Part 2

    Base building
    1. Find Wormhole (wormhole). Wormholes are living tunnels connecting two points of the world. They look like mouths sticking out of the ground, opening when approaching them. After jumping into the wormhole, you will immediately find yourself on the other side of the tunnel.

      • Wormholes often connect two completely different biomes - say, a forest and a savannah.
      • Building a base near the wormhole would be a wise decision, as it opens up the possibility for you to quickly move around the world, and it will be easier to escape from MacTusk (walruses) or a large flock of Hounds (hounds) and Deerclops (deer cyclops) attacking your camp, it will be easier. Then you can go back and kill everyone, especially if you have two camps - at both ends of the wormhole.
      • Jumping through wormholes lowers Sanity. Pick Flowers (flowers) or order the character to sleep at night.
      • There are also sick wormholes - and these are one-way tickets. They are ... disposable, after moving they die. You can distinguish them from healthy ones by the yellowish or green tint of the lips.
    2. Build a Fire Pit (bonfire). The fire pit is a safe source of light and heat for your base, nothing will catch fire next to it.

      • You can also cook there, and the Fire Pit also consumes fuel twice as slowly as the Campfire.
      • Fire Pit = 2 Logs (logs) and 12 Rocks.
    3. Make Spear (spear). It deals 34 damage, can be used 150 times, and is an effective and easy weapon in the early stages of the game. Hunt spiders with a spear to get Silk, a crafting resource.

      • Spear = 2 Twigs, 2 Ropes and 1 Flint, Science Machine required.
      • Rope = 3 Cut Grass.
      • You can also kill frogs with a spear if you are too lazy to set traps.
    4. Make a Log Suit (Wooden Armor). You have a weapon, now you need armor to survive the fight. Wooden armor is the simplest, made from 8 Logs and 2 Ropes using the Science Machine.

Make Chest (chest). You already carry so much with you - it would be unpleasant to accidentally lose all this, wouldn't it? You understand, if you die, then everything that was on you and you will be on the ground. You can solve this problem with a chest standing on the base.

      • Chest = 3 Boards (boards), you need a Science Machine.
      • Boards = 4 Woods, Science Machine needed.
      • You can build multiple chests.
      • You can store food in the chest, but it will still spoil.
    5. Build a Tent (tent). If you do not sleep at night, waiting for dawn, then sanity will decline. This is where the awning comes to the rescue! Using the awning restores 50 points of sanity and 60 points of health. True, not free - you will spend 75 units of hunger. Even when used, the awning warms the character as much as possible. The strength limit of the awning is six uses.

      • Tent = 6 Silks, 4 Twigs and 3 Ropes, requires Alchemy Engine to be built.
      • If you don't have the Alchemy Engine yet, you can also sleep in a Straw Roll (straw sleeping bag).
      • Straw Roll is a one-time thing, but in general, it does not differ from an awning in terms of the principle of operation.
      • Straw Roll = 6 Cut Grass and 1 Rope, Science Machine needed.
      • Straw Roll restores 33 Sanity at the cost of 75 Hunger.

    Part 3

    Creation of new inventions
    1. Make a Crock Pot (slow cooker) to cook better meals. The longer you play, the harder it is to survive, as Cooked Morsel (fried meat), Frog Legs (frog legs) and Berries will not be enough for you. The collected products, moreover, also quickly deteriorate, and they almost do not restore health. To solve this problem, you need a Crock Pot.

      • With the Crock Pot, you can combine recipe foods.
      • Crock Pot = 3 Cut Stones (Cut Stone), 6 Charcoal (Charcoal) and 6 Twigs, Science Machine needed.
      • Cut Stones = 3 Rocks, Science Machine needed.
      • Charcoal can be obtained from burnt trees. If there are none nearby, you can set fire to them - but do not burn a large forest, burn a small grove standing on the outskirts! The act of arson itself can be done with a torch.
      • What's a survival game without a farm?! However, remember - if weapons, armor and all that can be made and obtained immediately, then everything is different with the farm. You need a seed and patience.
        • However, a large and fast ripening crop can be obtained from the Improved Farm (improved farm), for the construction of which you need 10 Cut Grass, 6 Manure (dung) and 4 Rocks, as well as Alchemy Machine.
        • Dung can be found near Beefalo Field herds grazing in the Beefalo Field sub-biome. Herds of buffalo are not aggressive (if not provoked), they live in the savannah.
        • Manure is also fertilizer for your farms.
        • The farms will grow ... each time something new and random, but in general - edible fruits and vegetables.
    2. Build, explore and collect. We explained the basics to you, now you can stay in the game longer. Don't forget to build walls around your base, stock up on food in the fridge. Discover and explore new lands, collect new items, craft new armor and weapons. And yes, moving to a new level means losing everything that remains on the previous level!

After another death in "Don" t Starve "I thought: why don't I write a survival manual? Indeed, when people have a clear plan, their chances of staying safe and sound increase!

Introduction

So, you ended up in God knows where. Alone. Without any means of subsistence.
Your actions? Run around and yell? Do you think anyone will hear you, except for that rabbit that has been following you since morning from behind that tree over there? Not an option. And wolves can come running to the noise and dine on your lungs, bones, stomach and its contents. You don't need it? Then we discard this option as unsuitable in advance.

To survive, you need to coordinate your actions. Panic leads to complete disorganization and, consequently, to a quick demise. We need a clear system. And I'm going to tell you just about her. Take a pen, notepad, sit back and start writing... Testament. Just kidding, make a list... No, not guests for your funeral.

Days one through two

So, we think globally, build powerful plans and projects. To begin with, you need a certain base, a foundation on which you can do all this.

What do we have in excess? Is it found almost everywhere? No, the tree will come in handy later. To start, collect about 60 units of grass, 50 branches and 12 flowers. The latter immediately start up on a wreath. Do not forget to collect some flint, 5 things should be enough for a start - do we need an axe? In addition to building materials, collect carrots and berries - there is no superfluous food here.
It is desirable to spend the night in a dense forest. If there is no such thing nearby, a society of several tall trees will come down ... But a forest is better! So, during the night (and the next day) you should collect about a hundred logs (90 is enough). Don't forget to burn down a couple of pine trees to get 20 units of coal!

An interesting fact: on the first day you are practically not hungry (except in the evening / at night it can growl in your stomach).

Important: pigs are easy-paid labor! They can be used both as excellent lumberjacks and as bodyguards. Salary is taken in meat (if you try to give plant food, you will get manure).

Day three

So, 50% of the job is done. Now we need a stone. Lots of stone. 65 units (I rounded a little, let there be a margin). And gold in the amount of 16 units. While you are looking for stone fields, do not forget to make notes to yourself where you will meet herds of bulls (well, other interesting places, but bulls are a priority). If the inventory becomes full, just drop a few stacks of wood on the ground, under some tree. Just don't forget about them later!

Important: be careful with fire! An object thrown close to a fire or a burning tree may ignite!

Day four

Is there a stone? Wood? Perfectly! It's time to set up camp. First of all, set up a campfire - not all of us should make wooden ones! After that, you need to create a scientific station. Ready? Immediately proceed to the creation of the alchemy! So, now you need to put 3 chests, 2 cauldrons, 4 meat dryers and a lightning rod (fortunately, materials allow). Immediately craft a spear, a backpack, and a shovel. 16 stones and 40 grass go to one chest, the remaining wood goes to the boards. In the “Survival” column, find and create a heating stone. And wooden armor.

Important: it is better to put cauldrons close to each other and near a light source.

Days five through nine

Problem one: Does the food go bad? That's bad, unless you're a soulless robot who doesn't care what it is. We pray that in the neighboring cemetery (you already found it while looking for buffaloes?) there will be a mechanism so necessary for the refrigerator. It's better not to risk tempting fate with chess knights - death does not fit into the framework of our program.

Important: sanity is easily restored by selecting colors. Don't forget this when you dig graves!

If there is a refrigerator, it is very, very good. If it is not there ... Then you will have to replenish provisions very often.

Task two: Now we need a web. Look for spider nests nearby and gut them along with the inhabitants. 20 units is enough for now. Don't forget to wear armor!

Task three: Pull out your map and remember where the nearest buffalo herds live. We will need: a) manure (24 units); b) wool (4 units). Do not get carried away collecting meat: the crowd can gore. If there is a shortage with bulls, rabbits will do (4 pieces). Just don't try to eat them!

Important: Periodically, buffaloes begin mating seasons (as evidenced by a reddened ass). Be careful, at this time they are extremely aggressive!

On the base you need to create: 4 beds, 2 nets, a beekeeper's hat and a warm hat. Gouge 4 bee nests in the vicinity - we need honeycombs to build our hives. With a net, catch as much as you need.

A curious fact: if you hit a yellow bee, a whole swarm of red bees will fly from its hive. But if you kill her, when they return, they themselves will turn into harmless insects.

Day ten

You are a god. Almost. Build a wall around your camp (stone or wood, depending on the availability of materials). There will be guests soon. Ennoble the territory, dig the earth (it burns great!), collect wood. And sticks. And grass. These materials are the base. Always and everywhere needed.
In addition, find a mammoth and nail it. Runs away? Make a boomerang and hit! Trunk in the refrigerator: we need a fur coat, and you probably won’t have enough cobwebs.

Day Eleven

The peculiarity of this day is that neighbors will come to you ... The main character will warn you in advance about their arrival, so be on the lookout. Hounds are better to just stab with a spear (4-5 hits should be enough). Just don't forget to wear armor!

Days Twelfth to Twentieth

I hope, during your wanderings, you found a ruined altar, standing on the platform next to the pig heads on stakes? No, I'm not crazy. This altar is a universal checkpoint that resurrects you after death. It is important to remember that it is disposable, including after your reincarnation it will be destroyed. The inventory will be empty, but you are alive!

Important: if the altar is located far from the camp (4 or more screens), it is better to place a chest near it, where you need to put at least a hat with earflaps, a spear and materials for making a fire. This is especially useful if you are killed in the winter. Surviving in such weather, being in the heart of the taiga, is unrealistic.

Less than a week is left before winter sets in. Spend the rest of your time collecting resources like branches, grass, and wood. Be sure to create a couple of bee mines and, if funds permit, spike traps. Explore new lands to the maximum (it is better to take provisions with you for 4 days in order to advance as far as possible). It would be nice to create a football helmet.

Winter. The first day

Did you notice how dark the screen is? Have snowmen appeared? Are the bees hiding in their hives? I hope you have prepared a whole refrigerator of stew and frozen berries for the onset of frost? The beds and bees cease to function: the only source of food is game and berries that you have not yet had time to collect. Don't overdo the former if you don't want to be robbed by the local Santa Claus.
Until the snow falls, I advise you to run around the neighborhood in search of a winter mammoth (the external difference is the color). A wonderful trunk falls out of it, suitable for a winter jacket.

Winter. Second day

It is important to remember that in the cold (especially at night) it is better not to be far from heat sources, such as fires: you can still freeze even if you are dressed warmly. Stay near your camp - now it's a full-fledged fortress.

Important: all winter items of clothing have a margin of safety. Follow him so you don't get left naked! It is recommended to make a second set in reserve.

Winter. Day three

Remember the "summer" guests? Yes, those dogs. Soon they will come again. Only the three of us. Be prepared (the character will always warn you of their arrival).

Winter. Day four

There are still two more weeks to go. Not bad, right? Limited resources, cold, raids of enemies. Oh yes, even at the very end of winter, with some probability, it may come ... But this is already a secret. While you can google it if you don't know who it is, it's kind of unsportsmanlike, isn't it? Take heart!

Conclusion

I think there is nothing more to add. I have more than prepared the base for you - now you can safely stay on it until one fine day you get sick of the spoiled chicken that lies on the top shelf of your refrigerator for the second year.

Be fruitful, multiply. Oh yes, you are alone. In that case, survive, fight, explore! And, of course, don't starve!
