  • sugar;
  • potassium sorbate;
  • propyl parahydroxybenzoate;
  • flavoring.

Mechanism of drug action

The drug Fenspiride reduces the production of biological substances that are actively involved in the development of inflammation and bronchospasm. The main property is associated with antagonism with bradykinin, serotonin, histamine (H-1 receptors). It blocks α-adrenergic receptors, which, when stimulated, provoke an increase in the secretion of bronchial glands. It has an antispasmodic papaverine-like effect.

The instructions for use indicate that Fenspiride does not have an antibacterial effect and cannot replace an antibiotic in cases where there are indications for its use.

Means Fenspiride is characterized by rather slow absorption when it enters the gastrointestinal tract. Only 6 hours after ingestion, the maximum concentration is reached. The half-life is 12 hours. About 90% of the substance is excreted through the kidneys, another 10% through the intestines.

Indications for the use of Fenspiride

The drug Fenspiride is prescribed for diseases indicated in the instructions:

  • asthma;
  • bronchitis (acute and chronic);
  • tonsillitis;
  • sinusitis (acute and chronic);
  • pharyngitis, nasopharyngitis (chronic and acute);
  • rhinitis;
  • tracheitis;
  • laryngitis.

This medicine is used as directed for respiratory symptoms caused by influenza, whooping cough or measles. It is a tool for maintenance therapy of complicated and isolated bronchial asthma.

Dosage of the drug

The drug Fenspiride is intended for oral use. The dosage depends on the dosage form and the age of the patient.

Before using the drug, consult your doctor

Fenspiride tablets are prescribed for adult patients. The standard dose is 1 tablet 2 times a day. This is indicated in the instructions. With a complex course of the disease, the doctor may prescribe a third daily intake to enhance the effect. The duration of the course is determined by the doctor, taking into account the type and degree of the disease.

Syrup

Fenspiride syrup is prescribed for both adults and children. Adults are recommended to take about 80 mg of the active substance. This dose corresponds to 50-90 mg of syrup.

When prescribing Fenspiride to children, the dosage is calculated according to the instructions depending on the weight of the child: per 1 kg of weight = 4 mg of syrup. Small children who weigh up to 10 kg are given 10–20 mg of liquid Fenspiride per day. It's 2, 3 or 4 teaspoons. The daily dose for older children is 30 to 60 mg syrup.

For convenience, dilution of the liquid agent in milk or juice is allowed. Toddlers add medicine to a bottle with a drink or baby food.

Application features

Fenspiride has an anti-bronchoconstrictor effect and does not replace antibiotics. If the disease requires antibiotic therapy, it must be started immediately.

To date, there is no reliable data confirming or denying the fact that the components of Fenspiride are excreted in breast milk. Therefore, this medicine is not recommended for lactating women.

In the course of an experimental study of this drug on animals, undesirable changes in the development of the fetus were revealed. The effect of Fenspiride on human intrauterine development has not yet been determined by research. This medicine is currently contraindicated for pregnant women.

Contraindications for use

Fenspiride tablets are contraindicated in children under 14 years of age. In any form, the drug is contraindicated in case of allergy to the main active substance. And also in the instructions it is written that the drug is forbidden to be used during pregnancy and lactation.

Side effects

As side effects when taking Fenspiride, nausea, indigestion, and vomiting sometimes occur. In special cases, the work of the cardiovascular system is disrupted, which provokes tachycardia. Some patients develop drowsiness or vice versa - nervous overexcitation. Allergic reactions are also possible. They can occur in the form of a rash, pigmentation, swelling of the face or extremities, erythema. Taking Fenspiride, in addition to other side effects, may be accompanied by fatigue and drowsiness.

When taking syrup, urticaria sometimes occurs as a side effect. The occurrence of negative side effects, regardless of whether they are indicated in the instructions for use or not, means that the drug should be stopped immediately. To select an analogue medicine, you should consult a doctor.

Interaction with other pharmaceuticals

Since Fenspiride has a sedative effect, it is better to cancel other drugs in this category when taking it. If this is not possible, the increased sedative effect of the drug group should be taken into account, and driving vehicles and other activities requiring increased concentration of attention should not be planned.

drug overdose

Overdose is accompanied by such phenomena as vomiting, sinus tachycardia, drowsiness or agitation. To eliminate the consequences of an overdose, gastric lavage and drug maintenance of vital body functions are necessary. ECG monitoring is carried out to control the patient's condition.

Drug analogues

Yes, it does not contain any antibiotic, have you even read the composition? The active substance is fenspiride hydrochloride, one of its effects on the mechanism of cough is the suppression of beta-adrenergic receptors (in this case, it reduces bronchial secretion, and therefore reduces the amount of sputum), but the stimulation of these receptors in medicine is much more important for cardiology, this is a whole group of drugs, for the development of which even the Nobel Prize was awarded in the eighties of the last century. So the whole "side effect" is due to this, the dose just needs to be adjusted. Help me...

Pharmacotherapeutic group:anti-inflammatory anti-bronchoconstrictor agent ATX:

R.03.D.X.03 Fenspiride

Pharmacodynamics:

Anti-inflammatory and anti-bronchoconstrictor activity is due to the fact that it reduces the production of a number of biologically active substances (cytokines, especially tumor necrosis factor a (TNF-α), arachidonic acid derivatives, free radicals), which play an important role in the development of inflammation and bronchospasm. Inhibition of arachidonic acid metabolism by fenspiride is potentiated by its H 1 -antihistamine action, since histamine stimulates the formation of its products (prostaglandins and leukotrienes). blocks α-adrenergic receptors, the stimulation of which is accompanied by an increase in the secretion of bronchial glands. Thus, it reduces the effect of a number of factors that contribute to the hypersecretion of pro-inflammatory factors, the development of inflammation and bronchial obstruction. also has an antispasmodic effect.

Pharmacokinetics:

Suction

Fenspiride is absorbed relatively slowly from the gastrointestinal tract. The maximum concentration after oral administration is reached after 6 hours.
