Romantic egoist reviews. About The Romantic Egoist by Frederic Begbeder

The novel of the modern French writer Frederic Beigbeder "The Romantic Egoist" was received ambiguously. However, this does not change the fact that it reflects the harsh reality of our world.

The reader can learn the cruel realities of our time from the diary of the protagonist. Oscar Dufresne is a successful writer. He travels a lot and has been to many places. But life outside of literary masterpieces is not so beautiful. Everything that gives him popularity is not used for development and self-improvement. Oscar's life is an endless series of entertainment. Traveling, he visits clubs, discos, drinks, leads a very wasteful lifestyle. He takes advantage of the fact that many fans are ready to lie in his bed. They want to start a relationship with him, but everything ends very quickly. One girl is replaced by another, and then by a third. Every day, the writer sums up what happened to him by keeping a diary. Sometimes he thinks about life, he is visited by deep thoughts, but more often it is just a description of how he satisfies his desires.

Once upon a time, Oscar had a lover, but they broke up. Since then, he did not know what love for a woman is. All he feels is self-love, pride, superiority. The writer enjoys his success and uses what it brings him, wasting his life on hobbies. He feels somewhere inside that he lacks understanding and love, just not the kind that fans give him. And this life, although it consists of entertainment, has already become boring. One day, Oscar falls in love with his friend's ex-lover, but everything is not so simple...

In this novel, the writer talks about how a person can actually perceive the world. Even a romantic writer can be an absolute egoist, not thinking about other people, but caring only about himself. What can we say about other people. The book contains obscene expressions that give a special poignancy and realism, without them it would be difficult to feel what the writer reflected.

“Romantic Egoist” is, according to the author himself, “Lego from Ego”. It's really kind of like a puzzle. Frédéric Beigbeder is a flamboyant French writer who, quite frankly, confesses in his own books about everything that comes to his mind. But be careful, you can come across really shocking phrases.
However, it was for his frankness that many fell in love with his other works, for example, such world bestsellers as "99 francs" or "Love lives for three years." Frederic Begbeder is one of the noisy active writers of our time, the most appropriate definition for which would be "scandalous". If you want to read about how modern literary bohemia lives, then it's time for you to open the book "Romantic Egoist".
Clubs flash before the reader, where there is an increased concentration of representatives of the flirting bohemia of France. They are replaced by prestigious hotels, beaches, trendy resorts, discotheques thundering with music.

The book "Romantic Egoist" contains a lot of capacious, sometimes seeming ridiculous, epithets with which the author characterizes his own life, and the news of our time, and all facets of the world's major megacities. Here you can even find Moscow.
Frederic Begbeder does not hesitate to frankly describe the details of his own biography, hiding behind the mask of his own hero, and at the same time weave these thoughts into the arguments of a fictional writer, tired of his own fame.
The author is remembered by the fact that he writes exactly as he feels, selects awkward phrases to characterize this or that day, and, among other things, describes his own personal life in detail. In the book "Romantic Egoist" you can find fragments related to the search for the "dream girl", the relationship with the found ideal and the subsequent parting with her.
Of course, after the release, this work instantly received the status of a bestseller. Thus, the collection of Begbeder was replenished with another recognized masterpiece. The book can be snapped up into quotes that sound very topical and make many people think, because they describe the life of a modern resident of the metropolis, and his aspirations for his own success and the opposite sex.

Also, this book will appeal to everyone who wants to look at the world he knows from a slightly different, witty angle, to hear the assessment of a person from a different, brilliant and endlessly jaded bohemian world.

The book "Romantic Egoist" is a novel based on the author's diary. In his novel, the popular French writer Frédéric Beigbeder describes his own life of entertainment, drunken parties, promiscuity and confused thoughts.

The protagonist of the novel "Romantic Egoist" - the writer Oscar Dufresne, whose prototype is the author himself - burns his life, wasting it on the elementary satisfaction of carnal needs. And yet, from time to time the hero thinks about the cause and meaning of the way of life that he has chosen, as well as the meaning of being. At the same time, he himself needs love and attention, but not the kind that his fans give him.

As a highly successful writer, Oscar Dufresne travels extensively to different countries, but spends his time there mainly at discos and airports. Every day he makes entries in his diary, summing up the next day he lived. The writer writes down his conclusions about the events that he observes from the outside and about what happened to him personally.

In the life of Oscar Dufresne, there is a constant stream of women who seek to enter into a relationship with him. He, in turn, often uses this, but everything ends as quickly as it begins. In his diary, the writer periodically mentions his married friend Ludo, who constantly cheats on his wife and often complains about her. Dufresne himself had a girlfriend, but he and Claire broke up. He tried to return their relationship, but these attempts were unsuccessful.

And then one day the writer unexpectedly falls in love with Ludo's former mistress. Thanks to these feelings, his way of life begins to change rapidly, but here the main character of the novel "Romantic Egoist" will face serious trials...

Listen to every word. Take a look at the world around you. Do you see a universe of three-layered metaphors and carefully chosen characterizations? Everything is uncut here. Life is not at all what it often happens on the pages of literary works. She is cruel and unfair. Only the strongest survive, only the one who thinks first of all about himself. Agree, thoughts that you are unlikely to share with society often triumph in your head. You think often about yourself, you think about how to make the most important person in this world better. Who is this person? Of course you are! You veil your elementary physical needs in a highly philosophical context, you hide your low desires behind a mask of noble intentions. You will never admit it here, out loud, and now. But you can understand your true essence and the nature of desires simply by listening to an audiobook in mp3, reading online or downloading the e-book "Romantic Egoist" by Frederic Begbeder in fb2, epub, pdf, txt for free on the site

Who is he, this romantic egoist? A greedy little man who is looking for pompous excuses for his useless deeds? A romantic utopian who cannot find the realization of his fantasies in a postmodern society? You will know the answer to these questions. For now, back to the content of the book. "Romantic Egoist" is written in the language of our lives. There is no censorship here. There is no place for too kind and sentimental natures. It seems that cruel realities break through the binding of the book and grab the reader by the throat. There are a lot of indecent words here, but this is far from a flaw in the work. Once you've read The Romantic Egoist, you won't be able to imagine this book after a comb of censorship. Open the window, go outside and you will realize that this book is your best weapon. This is a weapon of self-defense that will fall with its chest into the embrasure of the cold of hearts instead of you.

The main characters of the book are far from ideal. It seems that they have absorbed your worst character traits, multiplied them and are also proud of it. The author took all the best in our life, put it on the floor and just mixed it with dirt. From shamelessly acted with useless ideals, leaving only what awaits all of us - deceit, betrayal and excessive selfishness. Ready?. The author describes the realities of today's society in the most gray colors, leaving no chance for aesthetic pleasure. According to Begbeder himself, his brainchild is "Lego from Ego". The protagonist is the psychological companion of the author. He does not spare himself in psychoanalysis sessions, he seems to be proud of his blackest shortcomings, he does not forget that everything he does is aimed only at his benefit and fame. The book resembles a kind of mosaic, laid out with various details of life fragments: the splendor and poverty of big cities, bohemian parties, social balls and family conversations by the fireplace. All this inexorably goes to its logical conclusion - to a complete collapse, which has long opened its doors and awaits our sinful souls. Begbeder cannot be called an idealist or an optimist. He just cuts the truth and leaves no room for warm pastel colors, because the world is too unfair. How much?
