Comparative characteristics of the use of chlorine-containing disinfectants and a new generation disinfectant "Biocid-S"

As the most widely used and approved chlorine-containing preparations for comparative analysis we have chosen: 1. Sodium hypochlorite, grade B (GPCHN) with a free chlorine content of 17% 2. Calcium hypochloride (GPHC) with a free chlorine content of 10% 3. Bleach (CI) grade 3 with a free chlorine content of 20% 4. Chloramine B (XA) with a free chlorine content of at least 24%. As chlorine-free disinfectant used the drug BIOCID-S from CJSC NPK Sofex. The following specialized literature was used as a source of information: - Instructions for the use of sodium and calcium hypochlorite for disinfection purposes, No. 942a-71 code NMD 48, USSR Ministry of Health, 1971. - Instructions for the use of bleach and two-tribasic salt of calcium hypochlorite for disinfection purposes No. 826a-69 code NMD 43, USSR Ministry of Health, 1969.

Guidelines for the use of "Chloramine B" manufactured by OAO "Ufakhimprom" for the purposes of disinfection dated January 25, 2002, No. MU-11-3 / 45-09, Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation. Guidelines for the use of BIOCID-S, certificate of state registration No. 77.99.18.939.R.000239.07.03 dated July 17, 2003, Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation.

Comparative analysis included:

Comparison of the costs of the commodity form of the preparation for general disinfection of 1 sq.m. surfaces and, as a result, the efficiency of using these preparations for general disinfection of premises and medical products: BIOCID C has an consumption of 0.5 g/sq. GPCHN has a consumption of 30 g/sq.m., the cost of processing is 30 kopecks/m², while the cost of the commodity form is 10 r/kg. GPCC has a consumption of 50 g/sq.m, the cost of processing is 1.1 r/m², while the cost of the commodity form is 22 r/kg. CI has a consumption of 21.9 g/sq.m., the cost of processing is 27 kopecks/m², while the cost of the commodity form is 11 rubles/kg. XA has a consumption of 3g / sq.m, the cost of processing is 24 kopecks / m² with the cost of a commodity form of 80 r / kg.

It follows from the comparison that BIOCID-S is the most economical general purpose disinfectant.

2. Environmental friendliness: The antimicrobial activity of chlorine-containing preparations is due to the oxidizing ability of atomic chlorine released during the decomposition of hypochlorous acid. Chlorine has a strong destructive effect not only on all microorganisms, but also on all materials and environments where these microorganisms are found. With the same microbiological activity, the chlorine-free preparation BIOCID-C acts only on microorganisms, without destroying and even protecting surfaces from corrosion in aquatic environments hence it is more environmentally friendly.

3. Comparison of terms, convenience of storage and preparation of preparations: GPCN and GPCC decompose during storage, and therefore they should be stored in a dry, cool, closed, non-residential area. Due to the poor stability of hypochloride solutions, possible violations the rules for storage and preparation of working solutions, it is necessary to check the preparations and prepared working solutions by the iodometric method for the content of active chlorine before use. CI, CA are hygroscopic, during storage it loses the consistency of a free-flowing powder, in addition, the preparation of working solutions of CA requires the use of special activators (ammonia, ammonium salts). CI if stored incorrectly should also be tested iodometrically. BIOCIDS - sustainable over time liquid concentrate unlike GPKHN and GPKhK. For the preparation of working solutions, unlike CI and CA, it is not required to weigh and dissolve the drug in water (often this requires heating). Working solutions are prepared by simply diluting the drug with water in the proportions given in guidelines. The shelf life of working solutions of BIOCID-S is 14 days, unlike chlorine-containing preparations, the working solutions of which are stored for no more than a day.

4. Comparison of precautions when using drugs: It should be noted that when treating the surface with chlorine-containing drugs, atomic chlorine is released into the air, so work is carried out in glasses, gas masks, protective aprons, gloves. All work with BIOCID-S can be carried out without respiratory and eye protection, protecting hands with rubber gloves.

Biocides are a group of active compounds that can have a detrimental effect on living organisms, effectively against mold. Let's consider what it is.

These substances are used in various fields. Biocides have their own classification, divided by composition, level of exposure, and purpose. Every year the production of biocides is increasing, as is the demand for them. The US is the leader in sales.

Types of biocides and their uses

Helpful information:

Let's highlight the main functions:

  1. They inhibit the growth of bacteria inside and on the surface of materials (they are present in various impregnations, varnishes, paints, household detergents).
  2. Render antimicrobial action(they are part of antiseptics, antibiotics, they purify wastewater).
  3. They are used as preservatives in the food industry.
  4. In oil and gas production (pipeline processing, in repair work when blocking wells, as well as in drilling new and closing old development sites).

The presence of nanoparticles in chemical composition biocides, increases the antibacterial protection of textiles, soaps, wet wipes. Manufacturers indicate the presence of substances on the product label, thereby increasing the interest of buyers. The shoe industry has adopted biocides against unpleasant odors leather, lining materials. Preparations have been developed for one-time processing of linen, for example, when there is no possibility of washing. It is irreplaceable in long hikes and travels.

In building materials, biocides increase resistance to damaging effects. environment. Modern polypropylene, polyethylene, contain a proportion of these chemicals. connections. According to the state of aggregation, substances can be:

  • liquid;
  • powdery (solid);
  • gaseous.

There are bactericidal, fungicidal and aldehyde additives. They protect, respectively, from bacteria, fungus, mold, algae. According to their intended purpose, they are used in concrete solutions, for external processing of frame structures made of wood and metal.

Important! When working with chem. substances, use personal protective equipment for hands and respiratory organs.

An additional coating with a biocide will protect the surface from corrosion, decay, mold, moisture, damage by insects. Morilka on water and organic basis, putty, synthetic adhesives after applying the biocidal layer, increase their quality indicators at times.

Biocides-azoles

In indelible antiseptics for all types of wood, biocides of the azole class are used. Azoles - inhibit the reproduction of fungal organisms and mold, act as fungicides that kill at the cellular level. Wood is sensitive to prolonged exposure to moisture and is affected by pests. Preparations are allowed to be used for external and internal works. The surface is treated with several layers with intermediate drying. The maximum level of protection is achieved by deep impregnation. Antiseptics of this class can be used as a coating for painting.

Volma biocide

To work with surfaces made of any materials, consider, for example, the water-based antiseptic "Volma-biocide". The drug is effective in combating destructive microorganisms. As part of the tool:

  • biocides;
  • fungicides;
  • aldehydes.

Biocides are chemical substances, the main purpose of which is the destruction and prevention of the growth of microbes.

Water-based coatings and coatings are particularly susceptible to microbial attack during storage and use, making them unsuitable for further use. Infection with microbes can occur both at the stage of manufacturing the material and during its application. High requirements for materials and coatings dictate the use of an effective biocide in their composition, which must also be low-toxic, non-volatile, have high activity in relation to microbes, stable at storage and well compatible with other components of paint. Its use helps to avoid contamination of the material. Right choice biocide is possible after a series of antimicrobial tests. Conventionally, biocides can be divided into 2 classes: container - to protect the material during storage and film - to protect the already applied coating. Biocides meet all technical and environmental requirements for this class of products. For the most part, their performance is higher than that of imported biocides, while the price is much lower.

Container preservatives protect the material during storage. The most common synergistic combinations of active substances are 5-Chloro-2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one and 2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one (CMIT/MIT). Biocides based on CMIT/MIT are inexpensive and effective in properties. Combinations of 1,2-benzoisothiazolin-3-one and methysisothiazolinone (BIT/MIT) or 2,2-dibromo-3-nitrilopropionamide (DBNPA) are more effective because contain a fast-acting biocide that kills germs and a long-acting biocide that works over time.

In the line of biocides, produced under the brand name Neomid (Neomid), there are various drugs with various active substances and the choice of one or another brand of biocide is determined by the tasks assigned to technologists.

The main task of film biocides is to protect the applied material during its operation. Biocides based on octylisothiazolinone (OIT) are widely used.
