Nutrition according to blood group Dr. d Adamo. Nutrition by blood type

Let's take a look at the so-called blood type diets - do they have proven effectiveness? What is the basis for claiming the need for products for each blood type? The theme is incredibly popular, a huge number of positive reviews. What if she actually works? Analysis of the main theses of the diet from the point of view of science.

Who developed the blood type diet?

Despite the fact that the scientific community has come to a consensus that blood type does not affect the choice of food, it was on the contrary statement that naturopath Peter D'Adamo (Peter D'Adamo) developed a blood type diet (without a higher medical education, has a license "healer"). According to D'Adamo, the physiological characteristics of an organism correlate with blood type, and each blood type has a different evolutionary heritage, therefore nutrition also depends on blood type. His conclusions are based on medical practice and observations of patients. The doctor did not conduct controlled studies, but this is not necessary - the naturopath conducts seminars around the world and sells books in millions of copies and without any evidence base.

What is the blood type diet based on?

A prerequisite for the creation of the diet is the erroneous notion that human blood types began to appear 60,000 years ago among primitive hunters.

The higher (humanoids, hominoids) monkeys have the same 4 blood groups, and they cannot be attributed to either “hunters”, or “agrarians”, or “nomads”.

D'Adamo's theory of the evolution of blood types, based on personal opinion about social evolution, in several theses:

  1. The first universal blood type 0(I) was formed thanks to the diet of Neanderthal hunter-gatherers 60,000 years ago (by the way, we are not direct descendants of Neanderthals, no matter what blood type we have). There were no blood types before Neanderthals. People with blood type 0(I) should stick to the "paleo diet" - high in animal protein and greens. Cereals are contraindicated for them.
  2. The second blood type A (II) appeared around 15,000 BC. when young mankind moved from hunting and gathering to an agricultural way of life. For the "agrarian" blood group, it is not recommended to eat food of animal origin, including dairy products. Modern people with A(II) should stick to a vegetarian diet.
  3. The third blood group B (III) arose in 10,000 BC, when some groups of people began to roam and eat cereals, the races began to mix (!). A balanced diet is recommended, but seafood, pork, and chicken should be avoided.
  4. The fourth blood type AB (IV) came from the mixing of the second and third, thanks to the diversity in nutrition, about 1500 years ago, literally yesterday by evolutionary standards. Nutrition recommendations in this group are quite controversial (however, as in other types).

Where Peter D'Adamo got these facts from, I don't know. In textbooks on anthropology and hematology, there are not even such hypotheses, not to mention theories or facts. The evolutionary-biological basis of the blood type diet is based on the incompetence of its author. Moreover, an American Society for Nutrition meta-analysis of 1415 articles related to nutrition by blood type found only one article that met the selection criteria for this topic (this is the only study on the relationship of cholesterol and blood type, read more in).

How did the evolution of blood types actually occur?

A detailed review of the book by D'Adamo P. "Four blood types - four paths to health" from a senior researcher at the Laboratory of Anthropoecology of the Research Institute and the Museum of Anthropology of Moscow State University, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Candidate of Medical Sciences. Andrey Igorevich Kozlov on the site Anthropogenesis.ru, I recommend that you familiarize yourself, and the site is generally magnificent - the fruit of many years of work by the best Russian popularizers of science. Anthropogenesis has most of the answers on the topic of blood evolution.

All blood types already existed in mankind long before the advent of agriculture.

The second group evolved from a common ancestor of chimpanzees and hominids about 5-6 million years ago. The first group appeared about 3.5 million years ago. B(III) evolved from A(II) about 2.5 million years ago. According to the logic of Dr. D'Adamo, the second blood type should be "predominantly meat-eating."

The next mistake of the author of the diet is that agriculture has received local development, and it was in that “agricultural Eden” that the A (II) blood type arose, and its carriers must now adhere to vegetarianism. However, anthropological findings and genetic studies indicate that agriculture developed completely independently in different parts Sveta. The sowing practice of the first sedentary communities did not develop for centuries, and rarely ended in success. The optimistic claims of the author of the diet that the first farmers were healthier than hunter-gatherers are far from reality: since the beginning of agriculture in the Middle East, a person has lost about 15 cm in height. Considering that agriculture was 100% organic. In addition, genetic adaptation is not able to keep pace with cultural and technological progress.

What is blood type/type and what depends on it

I suggest watching a five-minute video, which tells in simple terms about blood types and Rh factors. This video has the entire theoretical minimum, stated concisely and without unnecessary details.

What's wrong with lectins?

The foundation of the blood type diet theory is based on lectins. Lectins are proteins and enzymes that can stick red blood cells (erythrocytes) together. The author of the diet claims that lectins contained in food that is inappropriate for our blood group lead to systematic serious health problems: “clumping” of red blood cells, cirrhosis of the liver, heart attacks, blockage of blood vessels, kidney failure, atherosclerosis, decreased immunity, etc.

It is argued that with the wrong selection of products, each person is daily exposed to the destructive action of lectins - the vessels of vital organs will begin to clog with glued red blood cells. The syndrome of functional insufficiency caused by lectins should be widely spread and studied by medicine. First of all, pathologists should know about it, since the damage during the described processes should be extensive, especially in the elderly. This disease caused by lectin reserves and agglutinated blood cells cannot be hidden and must be clearly described, in combination with photographs from optical and electron microscopes, cytology, sections, histology of cells.

However, science knows nothing about lectin-glued erythrocytes... Moreover, lectins are widely distributed in nature - they are found in plants and animals, and not just in wheat, soybeans and corn. Most of the lectins, and there are about 800 of them, are not enzymes at all, and only a few are involved in the process of the immune response. Lectins play their role in living organisms - they activate lymphocytes (cells of the immune response) and stimulate their division, participate in the germination of plant seeds.

If you systematically eat a large amount of soybeans, make them the basis of the diet, you can earn an intestinal upset due to the toxic soy agglutinin lectin. But cooking negates the toxicity of agglutinin - boiling for 10 minutes neutralizes up to 99% of the lectins in the product. Soaking flushes out some of the lectins, and the fermentation process "digests" them - wheat yeast buns become more than safe for your intestines. Yes, eating raw beans can really kill you, just like a tablespoon of salt or 3 liters of water - this ironic list is endless.

The action of lectins does not depend on your blood type!

Gluten intolerance does not depend on blood type, but what will happen to such a person if, according to his blood type, he still forces himself to eat cereals? By the way, this is quite rare. genetic disease, but now it is very fashionable to consider gluten harmful for literally everyone. This is not true.

In general, there are about 300 blood types - according to Rh factors and their combination with the group and other classifications. What diet will the naturopath prescribe in each case?

What does the blood type depend on?

Bacteria and viruses are responsible for the diversity of blood groups, to which evolutionary protection has been built for millions of years. Indeed, there is a correlation between certain populations and blood types. This diversity is due to the pressure of natural selection through viral and bacterial infections, but not due to nutrition. The proof of this theory is the special mathematical models developed at University College London by Professor Robert Seymour and his colleagues (link is the full text of the study with a mathematical model and formulas). Their model shows that if viral infections predominate in the population, then O(I) blood type predominates, if bacterial infections are more common, then types A and B will occur more often. Dietary differences have nothing to do with this.

Blood group and race

Peter D'Adamo's hints that the first blood type belongs to a superior race smacks of you know what. Race cannot be determined from a blood test. Races are not separate kinds of people! The study of human biology does not support any causal relationship between race and blood type, although correlations are present. Humanity is unusually homogeneous in its "composition" and origin.

We are 99.9% genetically identical, regardless of race, even taking into account gender, external and individual personality traits. Such "homogeneity" is not so common in nature - chimpanzees have 2-3 times more genetic variations, orangutans - 8-10 times (also our close relatives). There are certain factors that initially influenced the prevalence of blood types in some closed populations - a small number of ancestors (as in Australia); the "bottleneck" effect, not uncommon for aboriginal peoples; intragroup marriages, etc.

One example. Lactose intolerance is associated exclusively with the lactose tolerance gene. Among US Indians, 100% lactose intolerance is 30-35% II (A), among Thais with 98% intolerance - 25-30% of alleles III (B). One hundred percent Eskimo meat-eaters have lactose intolerance of 80% - 80-90% I (0) ().

Blood group and diseases. Is there a connection?

The relationship between immunity and blood type has been discussed above. Some diseases do have a connection with the blood group. This relationship has been unconditionally proven in only seven diseases (!). Where, then, does the data on the relationship of a particular disease with a blood type come from? Dr. Eric Topol notes: “Often, the practice of looking for correlations in large amounts of data leads to any result - you need to associate risk cardiovascular diseases and second blood group? Take a sample of tens of thousands of people and you will find any connection.” Read more about the relationship between blood type and diseases.

Why are I(0) carriers more likely to get stomach ulcers? In 1993, the bacterium Helicobacter pylori was discovered, which has a special relationship with one of the unique proteins of this group. This is just one example out of hundreds of others.

Instead of worrying about your blood type, you need to focus on the real causes of our most common diseases - sedentary lifestyle, smoking, overeating. These are real, undoubted risk factors that affect our health, regardless of blood type.

Does the blood type diet work?

First fundamental research Dr. D'Adamo's diet was conducted in 2014 and the full text of the study was published in the peer-reviewed journal Plos.One. The title of the article is "AB0 genotype, blood type diet and cardiometabolic risk factors". This is a really high quality, cited study from the University of Toronto. In principle, it is enough to understand only this study - it provides answers to all the questions that I raised in my article, including a lot of links for additional study of the topic.

Since the goal of blood type nutrition is to reduce the risk of "specialized" diseases, especially those associated with blood vessels (remember lectins?), this study aimed to determine the relationship between diet and cardiometabolic health. I highly recommend reading the details of the study at the link above, especially if you have any doubts, but I will write its findings here: adherence to any blood type diet favorably affects cardiometabolic risks, but it does not matter which of the proposed diets the carrier prefers one of the blood types.

That is, all recommendations, regimen and food lists lead to a good result in healthy people who do not need a special diet for medical reasons, regardless of blood type. No significant association was found. Each of the diets led to the expected result: a decrease in body weight, waist circumference, a decrease blood pressure, serum cholesterol, insulin. Strict adherence to the AB(IV) diet reduced the level of these antigens, but did not affect weight loss. Strict adherence to the I(0) diet reduced triglycerides (fats). The effect of the diet was not increased when administered with the appropriate carrier type.

The advice from the blood type diet is mostly harmless and can be helpful on an individual basis. An exception may be the recommendation to introduce dairy products to representatives of group III (B) with lactose intolerance and other special cases - urolithiasis and a meat diet, gout and purine-rich foods, etc.

Blood type nutrition has no scientific basis.

I do not want to develop the theme described in D'Adamo's book about the connection between blood type and character. To understand how untenable claims about such a connection, it is enough to mention the "Barnum Effect".

The video that inspired this review:

The original article on which the video is based is published on skepdic.com. At the end, Boris gives a test on the "Barnum Effect", if you are not familiar with this, then you should be interested.

If you do not believe in the theory of evolution, then blood type diets should make even less sense to you, as well as any paleo diets based on biological development species Homo.

Father and son tried to prove that the immune and digestive systems of a person retain a predisposition to the same products that their ancestors once consumed. Therefore, the chemical reaction between the blood and the food eaten is an integral part of the genetic heritage.

In his sensational work "4 Blood Types - 4 Ways to Health", D'Adamo claims that the most ancient blood type O (I) was among the Cro-Magnon hunters. Gradually, as people began to farm and eat plant foods, blood type A (II) appeared. Group B (III) arose from the dairy diet of nomads migrating from the Middle East and North Africa to the Himalayas. And the blood type AB (IV) is the result of mixing the Caucasian (group A) and Asian (group B) gene pools.

Based on this logic, D'Adamo proposes his diet, according to which the needs of people with different blood types are directly related to the evolutionary process.

Blood type O (I)

The O (I) blood type is considered the oldest and most common. People with such blood are born "hunters", consumers of meat with a stable digestive tract, an overactive immune system, and poor adaptation to a new diet. They need an efficient metabolism to stay energized and lean. The best way to relieve stress for them is intense physical activity. Representatives of this blood type need to eat lean dark meat (preferably beef and lamb), as well as poultry and fish. Dairy products and grains are less acceptable to them, since the digestive tract of the "hunters" has not yet adapted to these products. Gluten (gluten) is also harmful to them - it slows down the metabolism of insulin and interferes with efficient use calories.

Blood group A (II)

The owners of blood type A (II) are "farmers" and vegetarians with a sensitive digestive tract and a tolerant immune system. They adapt well to the environment and food conditions. The best way to relieve stress for them is self-soothing (meditation). They need environmentally friendly natural food. And first of all, they need to exclude from the diet such a toxic product as meat. Dairy food "A-people" is also poorly absorbed - it provokes insulin reactions that slow down the metabolism. In addition, dairy products are rich in saturated fats, which undermine the work of the heart and lead to obesity. People with the second blood group are allowed to eat wheat, but in moderation, otherwise the acidity of muscle tissues will exceed the norm.

But "farmers" are allowed to use a huge number of various natural products low-fat, as well as vegetables and cereals. Among those especially useful for them are vegetable oils, soy products, vegetables and pineapples. And pumpkin and sunflower seeds, almonds and walnuts are excellent additions to their diet. Weight should be normalized with the help of brown algae, seafood, iodized salt, liver, dark meat, spinach and cabbage. In this case, you should choose only leaf and asparagus (broccoli), since cabbage, Brussels sprouts and cauliflower only add kilograms to them.

Blood type B (III)

Blood group B (III) belongs to the "nomads". Such people have a strong immune system and a tolerant digestive tract, as well as a freer choice of food. They are the main consumers of milk. And to keep the shape and good mood, they only need to evenly combine physical and mental activity. To get rid of stress, they need to create.

Corn, buckwheat, lentils, groundnuts (peanuts) and sesame seeds contribute to the increase in the weight of "B-people". They contain lectins that impair the efficiency of metabolism and lead to hypoglycemia (a significant decrease in blood sugar levels after eating). But if you exclude all harmful things from the diet, then sugar will remain normal. According to D'Adamo, their fatigue or frequent failures in the immune system stop as soon as they start eating lamb, lamb and rabbit meat instead of beef and turkey.

"Nomads" also react poorly to gluten, and therefore wheat and whole grains are also not recommended for them. Moreover, wheat in combination with corn, buckwheat and peanuts (in the form of delicious pies and buns) will have a truly devastating effect on their body. So even if you are thin, you should avoid wheat. And during the diet it is worth leaning on green vegetables, meat, eggs, low-fat dairy products, liver and liver, an infusion of licorice root (licorice).

Blood group AB (IV)

The AB (IV) blood group appeared less than a thousand years ago as a result of mixing other groups. People with the 4th blood group are a kind of chameleons, constantly reacting to changes in the environment and food. They have a sensitive digestive tract and an overly tolerant immune system. The best way for them to keep fit is to combine intellectual work with light physical activity.

per set extra pounds"AB-people" are affected by mixed heredity. To lose weight, they need to limit the amount of meat they eat, and also combine it with vegetables or tofu (bean curd). The list of products that promote weight loss includes tofu, seafood (except canned, dried, dried and smoked), green vegetables, brown seaweed and pineapples.

From the "B-ancestors" they inherited a negative insulin reaction to beans, corn, buckwheat and sesame. But thanks to the “A-ancestors”, their body treats lentils and peanuts quite friendly. Unlike those and others, "AB-people" react well to wheat. But if you need to significantly reduce weight, then you still have to forget about wheat.

Ecology of life. Health: The book by the American naturopathic doctor Peter d "Adamo" 4 blood types - 4 paths to health "was published in the 1990s. After 10 years it was translated into all languages of the world, the book became a bestseller. The book introduced unique experience determination of nutrition by blood type.

The book by the American naturopathic doctor Peter d "Adamo" 4 blood types - 4 paths to health "was published in the 1990s. After 10 years it was translated into all languages of the world, the book became a bestseller. The book introduced the unique experience of determining nutrition by blood group.

The author of the book claims that by choosing food according to blood type, a person achieves ideal weight, stimulates the immune system and prolongs one's life. For 30 years, father and son d "Adamo tested products and divided them into groups depending on the effect on the human body. These groups were conventionally called: medicinal, neutral and harmful.

It should be borne in mind that D "Adamo does not provide actual research, and all criticism is erased at the request of the copyright holder of a series of books so that people buy and maintain them.

Supply system.

The main idea of the blood type nutrition system is that the body of each person is tuned to its own type of diet. In other words, "each person must eat the same food as his distant ancestors with the same blood type, otherwise the food is not completely digested and is deposited in the body in the form of fats and toxins.

The theory is based on the fact that there are 4 dominant blood types and several groups that can be called adjoining, or borderline. The accepted international designations for blood groups are as follows:

  • first - I (0);
  • second - II (A), appeared as a result of mutation I(0); :
  • third - III (B), appeared as a result of the settlement of people on the continents;
  • fourth - IV (AB), the latest, appeared as a result of mixing II (A) and III (B).

I group (O)- the most ancient. 33.5% of the world's population are carriers of this particular blood group. If your blood type is 1 (0), then by the definition of d "Adamo you are a descendant" hunters".

"Hunter" has strength, courage, intuition and energy - all the traits that helped him survive. "Hunters" are the most adapted to physical labor people.

"Hunters" are usually tall, strong people with a square jaw. They have a high content of acid in the gastric juice, which contributes to the good digestion of animal proteins, strong immune and digestive systems.

Harmful for "hunters" products: wheat, beans, dark beans, corn, lentils, cabbage, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, pork, goose, fish roe, fatty dairy products, including almost all cheeses; foods high in carbohydrates (lentils, potatoes, corn, white bread).

These are foods that slow down metabolism and, as a result, increase weight. Strong alcoholic drinks are also contraindicated for "hunters". except for dry wines.

Her medicinal products include: seafood "seaweed, iodized salt, red meat, liver. From vegetables - leafy cabbage, asparagus (broccoli), spinach. These products speed up metabolism and, accordingly, reduce weight.

"Neutral" products for "hunters" are:
meat: lamb, beef "beef heart;
fatty fish: halibut, perch, salmon, sturgeon, sardine;
linseed and olive oils;
figs, plums (including prunes), walnuts, pumpkin seeds.

If it flows in your veins group II blood (BUT) then you are a descendant of farmers". Representatives of this blood group make up 37.8% of the world's population. Unlike "hunters", "farmers" suffer from low acidity of gastric juice. Ideally, their diet should consist of plant products, in other words, d "Adamo recommends them complete vegetarianism.

Medicinal products for this category of people are as follows: carp, perch, cod, salmon, mackerel, whitefish; soy milk and cheese, lemon, apricots, pineapples, cranberries, cherries, blueberries, figs, cranberries, raisins, plums and prunes, blueberries, olive oil, peanuts, pumpkin seeds, beans, peas, lentils, buckwheat, and coffee , green tea" herbal teas, red wine, water with lemon juice, carrot, pineapple, grapefruit, cherry juices. All these foods speed up metabolism and thus promote weight loss.

"Neutral* products are:

  • meat: turkey, chicken;
  • fish: sea bass, sturgeon, pike;
  • homemade cheese, yogurt, kefir, goat's milk and cheese, processed cheese, Cod liver;
  • walnuts, pine nuts and almonds, sunflower seeds;
  • from berries - currants and gooseberries, from fruits - peaches, dates, apples.

The diet of the "farmer" should be rich in B, C, E vitamins, calcium, iron, zinc, selenium, and chromium.

Products that, according to D "Adamo, are harmful to" farmers ":

  • beef, veal, pork, rabbit, goose, lamb, lamb, partridge, pheasant, beef heart;
  • salinity and smoked meats;
  • all seafood;
  • butter, ice cream, whole milk, peanut, corn, cottonseed oils;
  • fatty cheeses;
  • beans, eggplant, cucumbers;
  • oranges and orange juice, tangerines, rhubarb, papaya, melon, bananas;
  • black tea, all soda drinks.

According to D "Adamo, they slow down the metabolism of the "farmers", which leads to weight gain.

Group bloodIII (AT) says that you are a descendant " nomads". 20.6% of the world's population are carriers of this particular blood group. They are broad-boned, muscular, long-legged, often red-haired or green-eyed people. They are calm, optimistic, incredulous, quick-witted. The type arose as a result of the settlement of races. It is characterized by a strong immune system, balanced nervous system, developed adaptive mechanisms.Like their distant ancestors, modern "nomads" are "omnivores".

However, corn, wheat, lentils, peanuts and buckwheat slow down the metabolism in the nomad's body. These foods are poorly digested and lead to excess weight. You should switch to green salads, eggs, liver, soy, a decoction of licorice root. For "nomads" the following products will be curative: lamb, lamb, rabbit meat, venison; fatty fish, black caviar, high-fat dairy products, carbohydrate-rich foods, eggplant, carrots, beets, parsley, broccoli.

"Neutral" for "nomads" are:

  • red meat (beef, veal, etc.), turkey and pheasant;
  • smelt, carp, herring, cod liver;
  • soy milk and soy cheese;
  • hard cheeses;
  • linseed oil, walnuts and almonds; c) green peas, green beans, potatoes.

Harmful foods for this type of people are: pork, duck, goose, chicken, partridge, quail, beluga, crabs, shrimp, crayfish, ice cream, peanuts, pine nuts, sunflower seeds, pistachios, hazelnuts and black bread.

carriers IV blood group (AB) are referred to as " new people". This is mixed type, it includes 7-8% of the world's population. This is the most complex group, since it incorporates the features of two groups - I (0) and P (A). The type is focused on meat food, which becomes a problem with low acidity of the stomach, so the menu of "new people" is not easy.

Products from which the "new people" gain weight: red meat, beans, lentils, corn, buckwheat, wheat.

Medicinal products:

  • lamb, rabbit, turkey;
  • salmon, sturgeon, mackerel, cod, sardines;
  • homemade cheese, yoghurts, goat's milk, pressed cottage cheese, sour cream;
  • walnuts, peanuts, olive oil, red beans, lentils, oatmeal;
  • eggplant, collard greens, broccoli, cauliflower, beets, celery, garlic;
  • pineapple, grape, grapefruit, cherry, cranberry, gooseberry, grape, plum, lemon.

"Neutral" products for "new people":

  • pheasant, any liver;
  • fish, red and black caviar, as well as mussels and cod liver;
  • low-fat milk and low-fat dairy products;
  • soy cheese and milk;
  • hard cheeses;
  • cereals high in carbohydrates;
  • apricots, pears, melons, peaches, dates, tangerines, prunes, apples;
  • watermelon, cranberries, blueberries, blueberries, blackberries, and raisins;
  • wine and beer.
  • pork, beef, venison, goose, chicken, partridge, quail;
  • flounder, crabs, shrimps, crayfish, herring, eel;
  • high-fat dairy products: butter, ice cream, whole milk;
  • corn, sunflower, cottonseed oils;
  • beans and black beans;
  • buckwheat, corn, artichokes, hot peppers, olives, radishes;
  • avocado, orange, tangerine, bananas, pomegranates, mango, persimmon, linden blossom tea.

There is one weak point in the blood group nutrition system. Soon after the publication of D'Adamo's book, it turned out that there are much more blood types than four. This is due to many reasons: with the Rh factor, with wave fluctuations and other facts discovered by science. D'Adamo did not redistribute interest and rebuild the system for the sake of of these "unrecorded" groups, especially since they were carriers of all the same blood groups, only with their own distinctive features.

These features, according to D "Adamo, had external signs.

"Researchers". Muscular, narrow-femoral, broad-shouldered representatives of the species Homo sapiens. Any blood group can be. Courage and enterprise often lead to injuries.

"Researchers" are highly sensitive to caffeine, alcohol and painkillers. The diet for "researchers" corresponds to the diet for blood group I, but should also include foods rich in copper, such as lamb and beef liver, soft cheeses, parsnips, lentils, ginger, raspberry.

"teachers"Flexible, sinewy, naturally calm people, resistant" with good immunity. Blood flows in their veins II (A) group or IV (AB).

Diet" teachers"must contain pork, poultry (turkey) and white fish, as well as products of plant origin: beans, green peas, peanuts, flax-seed, avocado, carrot. Preference should be given to olive oil. Avoid foods high in carbohydrates (sweet, starchy foods), lamb and beef.

"Warriors". Blood type P (A) or IV (AB). Tall, slender people in their youth, become obese over the years. Charismatic, witty people who have difficulty relaxing, quickly blush.

Diet" warriors"- these are low glycemic index plant foods: peanuts, pine nuts, soybeans, nut butter, cauliflower, as well as fish and cottage cheese. High-carbohydrate foods are not recommended: white bread, pasta and flour products. You should limit yourself to meat.

According to D "Adamo, in the human body, which does not follow these simple rules, there is a metabolic disorder. Outwardly, this, as a rule, is expressed in the fact that a person is gaining weight..

Inevitable and diseases internal organs. If you eat, as prescribed by D "Adamo, then the body is cleansed of toxins, intensify metabolic processes, the work of internal organs, the cleansing and excretory systems improves, and the person loses weight. Of course, this will take time, because the body needs to restructure its work, so for those who want to get instant results, this diet is not suitable.

There are a few caveats to keep in mind for those who want to lose weight using this method. Surely many who are not familiar with the blood type diet, after reading it, will be surprised that their taste preferences coincide with the recommendations of a nutritionist. This riddle has a simple explanation: the body knows for itself what will harm it and what will benefit it. You just need to listen to his tips.

The Peter D "Adamo method is not a diet for weight loss. It is a system for cleansing and healing the body. Joints work better from it, tone increases, skin color and well-being improve.

The author considers several blood groups, while there are several dozens of blood group systems in people living on the planet. Listen to your desires. If you don't want to eat meat or green salad - Do not eat! When switching to a new food system, take your time, introduce new dishes into your diet gradually. This will help the body avoid stress. It is not necessary to turn recommendations into instructions. Diet is not dogma. You have to approach it creatively, look for your own way of life. Will more benefit, if you eat what you are used to, just reduce the portion. published

People for whom healthy nutrition is a really important issue are trying to choose food for their diet that can become a source of not only excellent taste, but also help maintain physical health. Of course, there are many diets designed to improve the basic functions of the body. Sometimes a certain set of products is recruited from therapeutic purpose sometimes in an effort to lose weight. But there are also diets that are selected for a specific blood type.

Dr. Peter d "Adamo became a staunch adherent of the concept that a person's health is directly dependent on what he eats, taking into account his blood type. Being a naturopathic scientist, d" Adamo spent many years studying human blood and, in the end, relying on research many geneticists and hygienists, concluded that the blood type and human diet are interconnected. His motto was the slogan "4 blood types - 4 ways to health" and he devoted many of his books to this topic.

According to the scientist's firm conviction, each blood type needs its own, special diet, and if you follow the table proposed by d "Adamo, you can improve your health, normalize metabolism and even lose weight. But you can not ignore the fact that not all The doctor's colleagues agree with the results of his research and believe that you should not choose your diet based only on the blood type.

Of course, here everyone can choose for himself whether to believe such statements or not, but to make a decision, you can also turn to the history of the appearance of various blood groups. And if you take a closer look at this topic, you can see that there really is something in d'Adamo's statements.

The history of the development of blood groups according to the theory of d "Adamo

O (I) - the first (about 33% of people)

The blood of hunters and gatherers. Appeared first among all other groups. Since the main food of the people of that time was meat, this particular product is an important part of the diet of O(I) owners.

A (II) - the second (approximately 40% of the population)

The blood of the farmers. Since their main food was the products of the earth, the lot of such people is vegetarianism.

B (III) - the third (about 22% of people)

Nomad blood. Milk is considered the main product, but they can combine products of the first and second groups.

AB(IV) fourth (about 8% of the population)

This is the blood of new people. Appeared the latest and therefore is the rarest among other existing groups. Those people who are the owner of AB (IV) have a very sensitive immune system and gastrointestinal tract. That is why they need fermented milk products and low-fat foods.

Nutrition table by blood type

If you believe scientific work Peter d "Adamo, then absolutely all products are divided into three main categories:

  • Medical (+);
  • Harmful (-);
  • Neutral (0).

It was on these principles that the blood group nutrition table was created. If you look closely at it, you can see that there are products that are preferable to use by owners of a certain blood type. Other products are equally useful for everyone, and some positions are equally harmful for everyone. At the same time, nutritionists working on this table advise eating only foods with positive value, rarely add neutral food to your diet and refuse food with a “bad” indicator. And also stick to a similar diet for life.

It should also be borne in mind that such a diet for blood type suggests refusal from pork, bacon, ice cream, corn oil, Westphalian gingerbread, wheat flour baked goods, black olives and sunflower oil for all categories of people. And although many reject the d'Adamo diet, it is worth noting that the harm of most of these products has been scientifically proven.

  • Pork, for example, is harmful due to its high fat content, as well as the presence of growth hormone in it, which can provoke tissue inflammation and even the development of unwanted tumors. Its constant use can lead to diseases of the gallbladder, appendicitis and the development of skin diseases.
  • For the same reason, avoid bacon, which, moreover, is rich in purine bases and unwanted salts.
  • The harm of ice cream is explained by the fact that it has a high calorie content, an excessive content of sugar and cholesterol.

There are also products that benefit any person, regardless of his blood. These are salmon, sardines, mackerel, cod, olive oil, savoy cabbage and broccoli, as well as parsley and parsnips. Even ardent opponents of the proposed theory will agree that all of these products are very useful.

  • Olive oil, for example, is able to neutralize existing harmful substances.
  • And parsley contains not only a huge amount of mineral salts, but also has a beneficial effect on the heart - vascular system. This spice has an anti-inflammatory effect and also contains many vitamins.

Products without harm and benefit are: cod liver oil, almonds, beans, green peas, peas, white beans, green beans and mammoth beans. Also equally neutral were: Beijing cabbage, onion sets, bamboo shoots, lettuce, zucchini, watermelon and kiwi.

The use of other products has its own nuances and there is a more detailed table on the blood type for each type of people.

Nutrition for the first blood group

Given that this particular group is the prerogative of the ancient hunters, its owners are strong, self-confident individuals with leadership qualities. The diet of such people was dominated by meat food, therefore, in order to digest it, acidity was increased in the stomach of the "hunters" and the digestive system itself was quite well established. Also they have strong immunity, which not only protects the body from infections, but can also lead to diseases due to its excessive activity. For example, it is the owners of O (I) who are most prone to allergies, joint diseases and ulcers, as well as poor blood clotting. That is why D "Adamo insisted on the need to follow a certain diet in order to keep all body functions normal.

Since this particular category of people belongs to the era of farmers, then, according to the same Dr. D "Adamo, they have a rather weak digestive system. After all, they mainly ate plant products and did not need constant processing of animal proteins. That is why , the doctor strongly recommends adhering to the diet he proposed, because, in his opinion, non-compliance with it is fraught with frequent diseases due to weak immune system.

Since such blood is the youngest and created as a result of mixing other groups, it has absorbed all their pluses and minuses. So, for example, having the characteristics of a group of nomads, the owners of AB (IV) can digest animal proteins, but if suddenly they have low acidity, it is better for them to give preference to vegetarianism. That is why D "Adamo advises this category of people to be more careful about their diet.

It should also be taken into account that nutrition by blood type generates a lot of controversy among nutritionists and other scientists. Many adhere to the opinion of Dr. D "Adamo and strongly recommend listening to his advice. Others, on the contrary, believe that such statements have no justification and there is a lot of evidence for this.

What is worth listening to when choosing food by blood type?

Pros:

  1. The concept of the creator of such a diet, Peter D "Adamo, is that it is the blood type that determines which food is good for a person, and which is best avoided to maintain physical health. Therefore, he selected for each of the four groups a complete set of products that help to obtain all the necessary substances. And also included in each of the diets only healthy food. Based on this, he argues that such a diet can be followed for life.
  2. The blood type diet involves fractional meals, with small portions, 5-6 times a day. It is this principle proper nutrition followed by modern nutritionists.
  3. Most fruits and vegetables in this pattern should be eaten raw. And this means getting the optimal amount of utility with food.
  4. Compliance with the proposed diet involves cooking only in the most optimal ways: boiling, steaming or baking. That helps good absorption and improve the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract.

Minuses:

  1. There is no archaeological or medical evidence to support this theory.
  2. Majority modern specialists reject nutrition by blood type, because they insist that there are rather sharp restrictions in such a diet, which can even harm. After all, the body needs to receive a variety of useful substances that go beyond the proposed table.
  3. D "Adamo claimed that all the missing substances according to his table can be obtained by using dietary supplements. Modern scientists insist that the effectiveness of such additives has not been proven. In addition, they, indirectly, are medicines Therefore, their uncontrolled use can cause significant harm to health.

And finally, I would like to give a couple more interesting facts:

  • Many volunteers using the Blood Type Diet have seen significant improvements in their well-being. Although experts who do not support the theory of such nutrition argue that this is nothing more than self-hypnosis.
  • When studying this theory, people noted that, subconsciously, they want to eat exactly the food that is useful for their blood type.

As you can see, nutrition by blood type is shrouded in a web of disagreements and contradictions in the scientific community. Therefore, when deciding whether to follow the concept of a well-known naturopath or not, it is better to weigh everything carefully and consult a nutritionist. After all, this is not the first diet that causes controversy, but it may turn out to be more enjoyable than many other popular schemes. healthy eating.

Among the diets there are bestsellers, the popularity of which has not decreased over the decades. An example of this is the diet of the American naturopathic doctor Peter D'Adamo, who developed the idea of a healthy diet based on blood types. His concept of "4 blood types - 4 paths to health" is set out in several books, the first of which was published in 1997.

Other editions followed after the first edition. "Eat Right 4 Your Type" has become a guide to action for hundreds of thousands of Americans. For the advice of a naturopath, who helped people listen to themselves, look at the intricacies of their own body, overweight people reached out. Food addiction is developed in many, preferences are different, someone likes to drink alcohol, and alcoholism is not curable, which means that constantly taking a dose of alcohol is extra calories. Someone eats too many meat dishes, especially junk food. And then they resort to various diets and ask for help from nutritionists to solve their problem. Peter is one of the best specialists, his methods suited everyone.

The success of the project was resounding. In just a few years, Peter D'Adamo acquired the status of a leading American nutritionist, opened his own clinic in the city of Portsmouth, and gained the trust of film and television stars. Demmi Moore, Oprah Winfrey, Miranda Kerr do not hide the fact that they adhere to nutrition according to the concept of Dr. D'Adamo.

Features of the diet by blood type

To begin with, it is important to note that a naturopathic doctor is not a doctor per se. Naturopathy is a doctrine of diseases that are caused by a wrong way of life of a person, his diet. The naturopath was the father of Peter D'Adamo, who pioneered research work in the direction of the influence of blood group on human health. The son continued and successfully completed the work, adapting it to one of the main problems of humanity in general and American society in particular - obesity.

The author of the concept argues that blood is the most important factor in the similarities and differences between people. She defines emotional characteristics, resistance to diseases, susceptibility to specific diseases. To find out your group, you need to take a blood test.

Different blood types interact differently with elements that enter the body from food. The main "conflicting" element D'Adamo calls lecithins. These substances are the "building cells" that make up all organisms on our planet. They are present in the human body and in the products that he uses. If the structure of these substances is hostile to each other, the food is poorly digested and causes disorders in the body. Therefore, it is extremely important to choose the right foods for your daily diet that will not be alien to your lecithins.

Principles

The blood type diet is based on the following principles.

  • The division of people into types. There are 4 types of people according to the number of blood groups. In Russia, gradation by numbers has been adopted - 1, 2, 3, 4 groups. In America, there is the ABO scale, where O stands for the first group, A for the second, B for the third, and AB for the fourth.
  • Meals according to type. Each type of people should consume only permitted foods that are genetically close to his body. Prohibited foods cause disease and obesity because they cannot be digested properly. The system also highlights neutral products that can be safely consumed in small quantities.
  • For each type of people, the author has selected the preferred type of physical activity. They are based on the individual characteristics of carriers of different blood groups. For example, the first requires active and regular training, including strength training and running, and the second requires moderate exercise, in particular yoga.
  • Taking food supplements. Nutrition limits the intake of a number of substances into the body. The author notes which vitamins and microelements should be taken additionally to maintain or improve health.

Reviews of the blood type diet allow us to interpret it as a long-term nutrition plan, which is important to adhere to for at least six months. At the same time, its author does not give any predictions regarding weight loss. However, he notes that indications for dieting are not only overweight, but also diseases. gastrointestinal tract, deterioration in general well-being, neurological disorders.

Reasons for losing weight

How much you manage to lose depends only on your individual features. But weight loss does happen for a number of reasons. Why stick to the rules?

  • Harmful foods are prohibited on the menu. No type of people are recommended sugar, sweet confectionery, baking, carbonated drinks, fast food. These products have nothing to do with natural human food sources, which D'Adamo considers to be the main ones. Excluding "food garbage", a person loses weight naturally, by reducing the caloric content of the diet.
  • Attention to food is formed. The most important plus of this diet is in the formation of proper eating habits. Learning to look at your plate, evaluate the quality of food, think about what you eat is a huge achievement for a person who is determined to maintain a healthy diet. Everything superfluous gradually disappears from the menu, only the right products, prepared in the right way, remain. And this, in turn, leads to weight loss.
  • Focus on physical activity. Physical exercise is considered by the author of the concept as the most important element of weight loss. The regularity of performing exercises of varying intensity fosters organization, eliminates breakdowns, and helps the body control the feeling of hunger. Physical activity becomes an additional factor in weight loss.

The menu for the days of this diet does not contain recommendations for the volume of servings. There is no need to starve or eat at fixed hours. The peculiarity of the diet is its proper filling, while a person can eat according to his appetite and when it is convenient for him. In fact, diet is becoming a way of life and the basis of new views on nutrition.

Diet for blood type 1

The carriers of this group are the descendants of the most ancient man. Today, their number is more than thirty-three percent of the total number of people on Earth.

  • strong digestive system;
  • powerful immunity;
  • poor adaptation to new conditions, including a change in diet;
  • incorrect functioning of the immune system, a tendency to develop autoimmune processes, allergic reactions;
  • a tendency to impaired blood clotting;
  • tendency to develop inflammatory processes;
  • high risk of increasing the acidity of the stomach.

The main food of an ancient person or "hunter" was meat, so the diet for blood type 1 is high in protein. At the same time, the ancient hunter led an extremely active, mobile lifestyle, therefore, intensive exercises, such as swimming, running, and aerobics, are especially important for maintaining health for such people.

  • Eat meat regularly. Several times a week, eat quality meat in small to medium portions. This product is necessary for the body for proper metabolism. Useful juicy meat, with incomplete roasting, for example, steaks with blood. But if you dislike such dishes, eat well-done or baked meat, previously marinated in acidic fruit juices, such as lemon, pomegranate, or spices, seasonings.
  • Eat sea fish. The fat contained in its meat has an anti-inflammatory effect. It will help fight inflammatory diseases that are characteristic of your body and support the functioning of the thyroid gland.
  • Give up dairy products. Animals that give milk were domesticated by man during the era of agriculture. The ancient hunter did not know dairy products, so his body does not know how to “handle” them. Most often, they are poorly digested, which causes a deterioration in well-being.
  • Eliminate flour, all types of cereals and products containing them from the diet. Among the foods of the diet for the first blood type, the most undesirable is wheat. It disrupts digestion and causes health problems. In the presence of excess weight, "hunters" are also prohibited from oats and its derivatives (bran, oat flakes), all types of flour products.
  • Reduce your intake of legumes or cut them out completely. Despite the fact that legumes are a source of protein, they are an alien product for the “ancient hunter”. The body must get protein from meat and fish.
  • Eat plenty of vegetables and fruits. choose useful fruits specific to your region of residence.
  • Use dried fruits and nuts for snacking. These products are useful for you and serve as suppliers of valuable vitamins, fatty acids.
  • Replace black tea and coffee with green tea. It has the same invigorating effect, but does not increase the acidity of gastric juice.

The menu should include nutritional supplements that will support the body and increase the nutritional value of the diet.

  • Licorice without glycyrrhizin. This is a form of DGL. It reduces the intensity of the release of hydrochloric acid in the stomach, thereby reducing its acidity, which serves as a good prevention of the development peptic ulcer.
  • Ginger. Useful antioxidant, anti-inflammatory action, stimulates intestinal activity.
  • Carnation. The fragrant spice has an anti-inflammatory effect and helps fight fungal infections.
  • Turmeric. A spice with a high content of essential oils, has anti-cancer activity, stimulates the production of substances to protect the mucous membranes of the stomach, and increases liver activity.
  • Cayenne pepper. It is necessary for the prevention of peptic ulcer, protects the digestive system from toxins.

In between meals, it is recommended to drink slightly warm still water, which reduces the acidity of gastric juice and reduces appetite. Strong alcoholic drinks and white wine are prohibited, occasional red wine is allowed.

Diet for blood type 2

The second blood group arose much later than the first. Its appearance is associated with a change in a person's lifestyle. People preferred a settled way of life and began to independently grow crops for food. The group is called "farmers" by Peter D'Adamo, according to the international ABO system it belongs to type A.

The diet for the 2nd blood group takes into account the strengths and weaknesses of the body of the "tiller":

  • high organization and ability to adapt to any external factors;
  • the effectiveness of the immune and digestive systems, subject to the correct diet;
  • high sensitivity of the nervous system;
  • high sensitivity of the digestive system to changes in diet and diet.

Peter D'Adamo recommends a vegetarian diet for carriers of the second blood group. BUT physical activity should include calm, relaxing techniques, such as tai chi, yoga.

Features of eating behavior

  • Reduce the amount of meat in your diet. The enzymatic system of "farmers" is not able to produce enough enzymes to break down animal protein. Because of this, the meat is not fully digested. In the digestive system, undigested proteins “settle” that can cause metabolic disorders.
  • Limit your consumption of neutral meats. Farmers are not forbidden to eat certain types of meat. Neutral include, for example, turkey, chicken, eggs. But include them in the diet should not be more than two or three times a week.
  • Eat fish and soy products.
  • Avoid fresh dairy products. The process of their splitting is similar to meat protein. Instead of fresh milk and cottage cheese, eat a small amount of fermented foods: yogurt, kefir. Dairy products have a probiotic effect and maintain the correct intestinal microflora.
  • Love beans. All types of legumes contain vegetable protein, which is perfectly absorbed in the body of the "farmers".
  • Limit grains and grains. Do not get carried away with cereals, bread and cereals fast food. In the presence of overweight eliminate wheat and everything made from it from the diet.
  • Choose fruits and vegetables. The main foods of the diet for the second blood group are allowed vegetables and fruits. You can eat them in any form.
  • Snack on nuts and seeds every day. Eat them according to your appetite, without restrictions. The fatty acids they contain are vital to your cardiovascular system.
  • Get it from food, not vitamin supplements, as it is much better absorbed in its natural form. Rich in vitamin A broccoli, spinach, carrots, zucchini.
  • Drink green tea. This drink helps to strengthen the immune system.

According to Peter D'Adamo, people with this blood type are characterized by low stomach acid. It must be kept under control, and to increase the use of gastric balms, betaine and the amino acid L-histidine.

Product selection

The table of products for "farmers" includes a large number of vegetables and fruits. The diet should include dietary supplements containing polysaccharides or regularly use their natural counterparts - sea brown algae fucus and sea kale (kelp algae).

Pay special attention to fermented foods, not only fermented milk, the amount of which should be limited to two or three times a week, but also pickled legumes, vegetables, and fruits. Fermented products are of high value for A-type people, as they saturate the intestines with friendly microflora, stimulate digestion, protect the esophagus from cancer, increase immune defense organism.

Banned carbonated drinks that reduce the acidity of the stomach, as well as dangerous lectins:

  • wheat;
  • corn;
  • tomatoes;
  • eggplant;
  • White cabbage;
  • potato;
  • lima beans, kidni;
  • bananas.

In the absence of excess weight, wheat, corn, bananas can be classified as neutral products.

Diet for 3 blood types

The appearance of people with the third blood group is associated with the era of human settlement and attempts to develop new territories. People began to roam, wander around the planet, which changed their essence and needs. The carriers of this group are called "wanderers" or "nomads", their number today is up to twenty percent of the world's population.

  • strong immunity;
  • high flexibility and ability to adapt to any environmental conditions, including new nutrition;
  • stable nervous system;
  • stability of immunity while maintaining a balance in the diet;
  • the propensity of immunity to autoimmune processes in violation of the balance of nutrition.

Diet foods for the third blood group are especially varied, because nomads should not have any priorities in food. Such people are omnivorous, they can eat meat and dairy products, eggs and cereals, legumes, almost all types of vegetables and fruits.

Features of eating behavior

The author of the diet notes that blood carriers of the third group or type B according to the international classification do not have a tendency to disrupt the enzyme system or the acidity of gastric juice. They can effectively assimilate foods with different structures, including protein and carbohydrate. At the same time, there is a high level of alkaline environment in the intestines, which creates protection against negative processes when eating a large amount of protein and fatty foods.

However, the opportunity to “eat everything and in any quantity” plays a cruel joke with the “nomads”. Abuse, unlimited food cause the accumulation of toxins in the intestines and unpleasant processes in the digestive system. “Follow your diet and your digestion will return to normal,” advises Peter D’Adamo.

Here are a few basic nutrition principles you should know.

  • Eat meat several times a week. Choose quality farm meat, eat it in small and medium portions. A protein product is necessary to saturate the body with energy. Eat meat juicy or medium rare.
  • Eat oily fish. Use it as a source of valuable, healthy fat that can fight inflammation in the body and improve metabolism.
  • Include dairy products in your diet. If you are not used to eating them all the time, start with fermented milk yogurt, kefir.
  • Enrich dishes with spices with enzymatic activity. Ginger will help your digestion peppermint, parsley. They tone the muscles of the stomach and activate the production of gastric juice.

Nomads rarely suffer from being overweight, so it is not easy to convince them of the need to follow a diet. They can appreciate the importance of proper nutrition only if they regularly experience discomfort from the digestive organs or suffer from allergic reactions.

Product selection

  • chicken, as meat uncharacteristic for nomads;
  • peanuts and lentils;
  • tomatoes;

Alcohol is not recommended in any group, but here the author especially emphasizes the dangers of its use. The strong digestive system of "nomads" usually metabolizes alcohol normally, and even in significant quantities it does not cause traditional "side effects". This creates the illusion of safe drinking, which is fraught with diseases of the liver and cardiovascular system.

Diet for 4 blood groups

The owners of the fourth blood group (according to the international classification AB) are the least, no more than eight percent of the world's population. This is the youngest type of person, his age does not exceed fifteen centuries. He is also the most controversial, as he combines the features of two almost opposite types of people, with blood types A and B.

They have the strengths and weaknesses of the carriers of the two oldest groups:

  • sensitivity of the immune system;
  • the ability of the digestive system to adapt to different types of food;
  • sensitivity of the digestive organs to "foreign" products;
  • responsiveness of immunity to errors in the formation of a diet with a high tendency to microbial infections.

The diet for the 4th blood group should be moderately mixed, that is, combining products for groups A and B. There may be problems that people "farmers" are prone to: reduced level acidity of the gastric juice and inability to digest efficiently. Moderate physical activity: brisk walking, swimming, tennis.

Features of eating behavior

Forming a diet that brings maximum benefit to the body should be based on several principles.

  • Avoid chicken and cut down on red meat as much as possible. Peculiarities enzymatic system prevent your body from effectively digesting and absorbing these foods. And their residues cause intoxication and disruption of metabolic processes.
  • Eat fish and soy products. They should be your main source of protein.
  • Replace fresh dairy products with fermented milk products. Use the latter in small quantities.
  • Include fermented foods in your diet. These include fermented milk yogurt, kefir, pickled vegetables. Such products contain lactic acid bacteria, which are necessary to maintain the correct functioning of the digestive system and immunity.
  • Eat sea fish. Varieties of fish from cold seas contribute to the normalization of metabolism.
  • Include foods rich in vitamin A in your diet. Among them are broccoli, spinach, carrots. These products are necessary to normalize the enzymatic function of the body and improve digestion.

According to the author of the concept, the right food for a diet for the fourth blood group will help to avoid problems with indigestion, metabolic disorders, decreased immunity and instability of the nervous system.

Product selection

The low acidity of the gastric juice inherent in type AB people does not allow the correct absorption of animal protein. Bioadditives allow to increase acidity: gastric balms, herbal tinctures based on gentian yellow, betaine.

To normalize bowel function, it is important to add foods containing polysaccharides to the diet. These can be dietary supplements or their natural sources: sea brown algae and kelp.

The list of hazardous products includes:

  • chicken meat;
  • river white fish;
  • bean varieties lima, kidni;
  • buckwheat groats, .
