Nystatin tablets are similar drugs. Nystatin tablets: what helps

Nystatin is a proven treatment for fungal infections various localizations. It is actively used in dermatological, gynecological and surgical practices. However, the prescription of a drug is not always justified or gives the necessary therapeutic result. Therefore, in such cases, Nystatin is not prescribed - analogues are a more preferable option.

Characteristics of Nystatin

Nystatin is a drug from the group of polyene antibiotics, which is now actively used for candidiasis pathology. The drug molecules have the ability to bind to sterol groups of the cell membrane and thereby provoke the uncontrolled transport of electrolytes through it. The result is an increase in osmolar pressure and the gradual death of the fungus.

When taken orally, it is poorly absorbed (the bioavailability rate is several percent). It is excreted from the body primarily through the intestines. According to recent studies, resistance to the drug remains at a low level.

The main indication for the use of Nystatin remains candidal infections of various locations.

The drug is also used for prevention fungal infection digestive tract during long-term antibacterial therapy and after surgical interventions.

Nystatin is available in the form of tablets for oral administration (500,000 OD each), a cream for local application to affected areas of the skin and suppositories for rectal or intravaginal administration.

The following side effects are possible when using it:

  • disorders digestive system(feeling of heaviness in the abdomen, nausea, diarrhea, loss of appetite);
  • allergic reactions (itching at the site of application, rash, swelling, skin hyperemia);
  • increased body temperature;
  • addition of superinfection;
  • decreased effect of clotrimazole.

Nystatin should not be prescribed if the patient has hypersensitivity to it, gastric ulcer or duodenum, sharp or chronic pancreatitis, insufficient liver function.

Daily allowance maximum dose the drug is 1,000,000 OD.

For adult patients, it is enough to take tablets of 500,000 OD orally, or administer suppositories with the same content of the drug 2 times a day.

Nystatin analogs

We should start talking about Nystatin analogues with Pimafucin, which has been widely used in the last decade for the treatment of fungal pathology.

The active ingredient of the drug is natamycin, a representative of the polyene group of medications. The mechanism of the drug is similar to Nystatin - molecules are able to attach to sterol groups of the cell membrane and change its permeability to electrolytes.

However, Pimafucin has a serious advantage. He has more wide range action, since it affects not only candida, but also representatives of dermatomycetes (Trichophyton, Epidermophyton, Microsporia), yeast and some protozoa (Trichomonas). When taken orally, natamycin has no systemic effect, since it is practically not absorbed into the body. digestive tract. This also reduces the risk side effects during the course of therapy.

The main indications for the use of Pimafucin are as follows:

  • candidiasis of the skin, mucous membrane, digestive tract;
  • secondary fungal infection during drug therapy (antibiotics, immunosuppressants, glucocorticosteroids);
  • external otomycosis;
  • dermatomycosis, caused by microflora sensitive to the drug;
  • prevention of fungal infection while reducing reactivity immune system, before and after surgical interventions.

Side effects, since the drug does not have a systemic effect, are limited to dyspeptic symptoms and hypersensitivity reactions. During pregnancy, the drug is allowed to be used only in the third trimester.

The manufacturer of "Pimafucin" is the Dutch pharmaceutical company Astellas Pharma. The drug is available in the form of tablets (100 mg each), vaginal suppositories, ointments and drops for use in ophthalmology.

The duration of therapy ranges from several days to months (with immunosuppression). Adults need to take 1 tablet 4 times a day.

Ketoconazole is a time-tested and experience-tested antifungal drug. Its mechanism of action is somewhat different from that of Nystatin. Ketoconazole inhibits the synthesis of sterols, key components of the fungal cell membrane. This leads to the inability of microflora to reproduce and their gradual lysis.

The drug is also well absorbed in the intestine, which allows it to be used for systemic mycosis. Ketoconazole penetrates even into cerebrospinal fluid. The maximum concentration is reached 2 hours after taking the medicine. The drug is excreted primarily in feces and urine. At local application Ketoconazole practically does not enter the bloodstream.

This remedy is used for the following pathologies:

  • onychomycosis;
  • local and generalized candidal infection;
  • seborrheic dermatitis;
  • histoplasmosis;
  • coccidioidomycosis;
  • blastomycosis;
  • paracocciomycosis;
  • fungal sepsis;
  • immunodeficiencies for the prevention of various fungal pathologies.

The main contraindication to the drug is the patient’s history of allergic reactions to it. Ketoconazole should also not be used if the liver function is impaired, during pregnancy and lactation.

At renal failure need to watch your speed glomerular filtration and adjust the dose depending on its indicators.

The drug is available under trade names“Livarol”, “Nizoral”, “Sebozol”, “Dermazol”, “Fungavis”, “Oronazol” in the form of tablets, suppositories, shampoo and cream for external use.

"Gaynomax" is combination drug, which is used for diseases of the female genital tract of bacterial or fungal etiology. It contains 100 mg of tioconazole and 150 mg of tinidazole. This combination significantly expands the spectrum of therapeutic action of the drug.

Tioconazole is synthetic antifungal agent, which in its own way chemical structure close to ketoconazole. It also inhibits the synthesis of sterols by the cells of pathogenic pathogens. Tioconazole showed the greatest effectiveness against candida and trichomonas.

Tinidazole is a antimicrobial agents. It is capable of disrupting the exchange of nitro compounds in microflora cells, which leads to their death. Tinidazole is active against a significant number of anaerobic bacteria, Trichomonas, Gardenella, some protozoa.

"Gaynomax" is used to treat vulvovaginitis, which is caused by sensitive flora. In this case, the drug can be used even before the results bacteriological research, as well as in doubtful cases of fungal pathology.

Gaynomax should not be prescribed if the patient has hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.

The drug is available only in the form of suppositories for intravaginal use. One package contains 7 suppositories. The manufacturer of Gaynomax is the Turkish company Embil Pharmaceutical.

The optimal treatment regimen is to use 1 candle per day before bedtime.

"Ginalgin" is another combination drug that is used in gynecological practice. It consists of 250 mg metronidazole and 100 mg chlorquinaldone. This, unlike other drugs, allows it to be used for various infections caused by bacterial and protozoal flora.

Metronidazole - effective remedy from the group of nitroimidazoles. It is capable of activating the processes of reduction of nitro groups in the cells of microorganisms, which disrupts their metabolism and leads to death. Metronidazole has a rather characteristic spectrum of action - it affects Trichomonas, Giardia, Bacteroides, Clostridia, some protozoa and most anaerobic bacteria.

Chlorquinaldone is typical antimicrobial agent. It violates the integrity of the cell membranes of microflora, which leads to their lysis. Streptococci, staphylococci, Proteus, salmonella and E. coli are sensitive to it.

"Ginalgin" is often the drug of choice in cases where treatment with antifungal agents turned out to be unjustified, and the inflammation is caused precisely by the bacterial flora.

When the drug is applied topically, significant absorption of metronidazole and minor absorption of chlorquinaldone is observed. The components of the drug are excreted primarily by the kidneys.

When using the drug, the following are possible: side effects:

  • dyspeptic disorders;
  • hypersensitivity reactions (rash, swelling, anaphylactic shock);
  • headache;
  • mood lability, tendency to depression;
  • decreased performance;
  • tooth at the site of application;
  • severe drowsiness;
  • convulsions, symptoms of ataxia;
  • inhibition of hematopoiesis (thrombocytopenia, anemia, leukocytopenia);
  • transient increase in liver enzymes and creatinine;
  • increased body temperature;
  • periodic muscle pain.

Ginalgin is produced by the Polish pharmaceutical company ICN Polfa Rzeszow in tablets for intravaginal use.

It is recommended to start the course of treatment on day 2-3 menstrual cycle and continue for 10 days. Use 1 tablet at night before bedtime. If necessary, the course of treatment can be continued or repeated after some time.

Polyene antibiotic, which is located on pharmaceutical market for more than a decade, used as a fungistatic agent for the treatment various forms candidiasis, Nystatin is available in several dosage forms, including Nystatin tablets. What the drug helps in tablet form, which is used somewhat less frequently than common ointments and suppositories, can be found out by carefully studying the instructions for use or consulting with the doctor who made such a prescription. Although thanks to the effectiveness medicine and its demand, many know the name Nystatin, what its dosage forms are used for, and what therapeutic effects can be achieved with its help.

Each of those who have used the drug can name a specific case of treatment, and this could be vaginal candidiasis, thrush or Nystatin for stomatitis, recommended by the dentist. This fungistatic has undeniable advantages in the form of low toxicity, undeniable effectiveness and affordable prices, which determined its continued reliable position among antimycotic agents.

Nystatin is a polyene antibiotic, a well-known fungistatic agent that is used primarily for the treatment of candidiasis, regardless of its location. Therefore, its focus is considered to be quite narrow, and usually all dosage forms of the drug are classified as drugs of narrow therapeutic action. It was believed that the activity of polyene extended only to the suppression of the activity of certain species of fungi of the genus Candida, but over time it was discovered that it was also capable of suppressing the viability of intestinal amoeba, the pathogenic agent of intestinal dysentery. Previously, Nystatin was used in the form of an injection solution, which led to its accumulation in the body and gave a number of negative consequences.

In recent decades, it has been used in tablet form, in the form of ointments and suppositories, which gives a narrow and local effect at the site of the pathology, eliminating the possibility of side effects. negative manifestations. The tablets dissolve perfectly in the stomach and intestines, but are practically not absorbed into the walls, therefore, different dosage in adults and children.

As an antimycotic and fungistatic agent, Nystatin - tablets for thrush, candidiasis and some types of their manifestations, is used to treat lesions in the vagina, mouth, perianal and anal area with part of the intestine, area, in the form skin lesions, on any part of the mucosa or epidermis. The undeniable advantage of the tablet form is its non-distribution into the bloodstream and its almost complete elimination from the body unchanged.

Nystatin tablets: what helps

Narrow therapeutic effect of the drug, the length of its proven reputation and the resistance that some types of fungus managed to develop to the polyene antibiotic do not mean that for this reason they stopped using Nystatin. Indications for use of the drug extend to: fungal infections, regardless of their location on the skin and mucous membranes, but it should not be used to treat viral and bacterial lesions, because viruses and bacteria are not susceptible to the main active substance of the drug. Main indication for use medication is a manifestation of the vital activity and activity of yeast-like fungi of the genus Candida in the human body.

Don’t be shy, ask our consultants questions, right here on the website. We will definitely answer

  • Candida, being a conditionally pathogenic fungus, is able to activate under the influence of provoking factors, both exogenous and endogenous, and begin pathogenic activity, leading to the development of a specific negative process, known as candidiasis. This process spreads in the body to the mucous membranes and epidermis, and the localization of the fungal infection may depend on the age or gender differences of a particular patient. Nystatin is used to suppress the vital functions and activity of the fungus, regardless of its location, and prevents the occurrence of negative consequences that develop during the period of its pathogenic productivity. Tablets with active active substance Nystatin exhibits its specific effect and suppresses candidiasis in the places of their development:
  • on the mucosa gastrointestinal tract;
  • V oral cavity(mucosa, gums, palate and tongue);
  • V reproductive system women;
  • V genitourinary system men;
  • with the development of candidiasis from long-term antibiotic therapy;
  • to prevent the development of candidiasis during operations in the intestinal cavity;
  • to prevent the occurrence of mycoses in people with weakened immune systems or autoimmune diseases.

Release medicines with active active substance Nystatin, a polyene antibiotic, is produced in several dosage forms for use at the site of local damage, in hard-to-reach or inconvenient places. Suppositories with nystatin are no less common than the tablet form and are often used in gynecology and proctology.

Nystatin tablets: instructions for use

The connection of a polyene antibiotic with sterol complex molecules in the composition of the cell membranes of mycosis leads to a double effect: in a low concentration the drug is able to suppress the reproduction activity of the pathogenic agent, in large concentrations it can stop the vital activity of the fungus. The destruction of cell membranes leads to the rapid elimination of candidiasis lesions if the dosage of the tablets is selected correctly and the use is carried out for the required period.

How to take Nystatin for thrush, oral candidiasis or proctological dislocation is decided by the attending physician. The dosage is dictated by the degree of spread of the infection, sexual or age characteristics patient, location of the lesion.

Nystatin tablets for thrush: application

How to take the drug is decided by a gynecologist or urologist. The tablets are taken 6-8 times a day and amount to a total of 250 thousand units of active ingredient, but have many contraindications and side effects.

As a rule, the course of treatment ranges from ten days to two weeks, it all depends on the severity pathological process and the resistance of the body itself. In general, according to experts, the state of the immune system plays a large role in the development of candidiasis.

The doctor prescribes tablets for the treatment and prevention of candidiasis. Usually the drug is prescribed in a course that can last on average 10-14 days, the period largely depends on how much the pathology has developed and how the body is able to cope with it. It has now been established that the appearance of thrush is influenced by the state of immunity.

People with weak immunity risk the most, therefore, along with the main treatment, doctors recommend taking vitamin complexes to strengthen the body's resistance.

The doctor prescribes the drug for adults at a dose of 250,000 units. per day, intake is recommended from 6 to 8 times. The dosage of the drug can be increased in case of severe illness, but daily dose should not exceed 6 million units. Due to its ability to destroy cell membranes of mycotic infections, the drug has an invariably positive result.

If the disease recurs, the course of treatment is re-prescribed after 2-3 weeks. If there are lesions on the mucous membrane of the gastrointestinal tract, the tablet is dissolved in the mouth and swallowed immediately along with a sufficient amount of water.

For the treatment of men in medical practice tablets are used in combination with nystatin ointment, the head of the genital organ is treated with it and foreskin. The dose is selected individually by the doctor, depending on the course of the disease.

Nystatin during pregnancy

During pregnancy, lactation and postpartum period they usually refrain from prescribing Nystatin, recommending the drug Pimafucin as less harmless, despite the fact that clinical researches Nystatin did not reveal a teratogenic effect.

Nystatin tablets for children

The dosage of Nystatin is not recommended for children under one year of age, but in case severe lesions all can be used and should not exceed 125,000 units. The drug can be used for internal and external use if a quick and effective effect is needed. The suspension is prepared in this way: the granules are dissolved in a small amount of water (milk) for the child to drink. The drug in tablet form is prescribed infrequently, but if necessary, a ¼ tablet is used, after which it is not recommended to feed or water the child for 30 minutes. How to take Nystatin, in the age category, it is better to consult a pediatrician.

Nystatin for stomatitis

IN childhood used to treat stomatitis water solution from 1 tablet of Nystatin, crushed into powder and mixed with an oil solution of vitamin B12. After the mixture has been brought to a homogeneous substance, the oral cavity is treated with it, and this procedure is carried out at least 3 times a day.

Nystatin: contraindications

An obstacle to the use of the drug may be the presence of individual immunity to nystatin or auxiliary components as part of dosage form. The possibility of using Nystatin during pregnancy or lactation is preferable to use another medicine. When choosing between Nystatin or Fluconazole, which is better to use during pregnancy - Fluconazole: it belongs to the triazoles and has a selective effect on the pathogenic agent, unlike Nystatin, which belongs to the antibiotics. Pathologies of the gastrointestinal tract and hepatobiliary system (pancreatitis and liver failure) are also considered contraindications.

Side effects

Possible bitter taste in the mouth, irritation of the vagina or intestines, skin reactions– itching, rash or hives, intestinal disorders or nausea and vomiting.

Overdose

An overdose is characterized by increased side effects or the occurrence of a febrile state, although cases of Nystatin overdose have not been reported.

Nystatin: drug analogues

Azicin, Vilprafen, Pimafucin, Monural, Fluconazole - with another active substance, but similar in the effect obtained.

Price

In the prevalence that Nystatin has acquired, cost is of no small importance. How much Nystatin, tablets or suppositories cost, may depend on the region of residence, packaging of the drug and network retail pharmacies. Nystatin, instructions for use of the tablet, the price can start from 28 rubles in Moscow and depend on the manufacturer of the drug.

They are present in the body of many people, but if the immune system is functioning properly, they do not pose any particular danger. But once a person gets even an acute respiratory infection, these insidious microorganisms begin to actively increase the number of their colonies, affecting skin and mucous membranes. Anyone who has encountered a similar problem is familiar with the drug Nystatin. Analogues of this medication occupy a fairly large sector of the pharmacies’ range, and it is these drugs that will be discussed further.

Pharmacological characteristics of the drug "Nystatin"

Before you start exploring substitutes of this medicine, you should familiarize yourself with it pharmacological properties. This medication belongs to the group of polyenes. The antifungal agent Nystatin interacts with sterols at the level of the cell membrane and disrupts their penetration. As a result of this effect, the main components leave the cell, destroying it.

Like Nystatin, analogues of the drug are active against yeast-like fungi Candida.

Release form, indications, dosage

Today, the medicine is produced in three main forms. The first is tablets containing 250 thousand units and 500 thousand units. They are prescribed for candidiasis internal organs and mucous membranes. Quite often, this medication in tablet form is recommended to be taken with for preventive purposes people with weakened immune systems after long-term use antibiotics. Adults are prescribed 500 thousand units 4-8 times a day.

The second form of the product is ointment. It is used for candidiasis of the epidermis. The ointment is applied to the affected areas 2 times a day.

As for the third form of medication, these are rectal and vaginal suppositories. The former are prescribed for candidiasis of the lower intestines and for the purpose of prevention in pre- and postoperative period. Doctors recommend their patients to use both the first and second suppositories, one twice a day.

Therefore, when considering substitutes for this medicine, we will focus on medicines that are similar in pharmacological action, and not by composition. The list of such tools is quite large; we will consider the most popular of them.

The drug "Fluconazole"

This analogue of “Nystatin” in tablets is used to treat ailments caused by fungi. This agent, having a highly specific effect, inhibits the activity of enzymes of pathogenic microorganisms. The active ingredient of the drug interferes with the process of conversion of lanosterol into elgosterol in fungal cells, as a result of which the permeability of membranes increases and the death of pathogenic microorganisms occurs.

The medicine is available in three main forms: tablets, solution for infusion, capsules. The doctor decides in what form to use the drug depending on the location of the disease.

Reviews of the drug "Fluconazole"

Most patients who were able to overcome the disease with the help of this medicine speak positively about it. However, those who experienced side effects during therapy are not very happy with the medicine. After all, like the drug Nystatin, analogues, including the drug Fluconazole, can cause a number of negative, very serious reactions in the body. Thus, the use of this medication can cause flatulence, nausea, abdominal pain, dyspepsia, liver dysfunction and many other ailments.

Means "Diflucan"

This antifungal agent is used both for mycoses of the skin and mucous membranes, and for candidiasis of internal organs. Fluconazole is used as the main active ingredient. The product is currently available in capsules and powder form for self-cooking suspension and in the form of a solution for injection. This allows you to choose the most appropriate way to use the medicine to achieve the best results. therapeutic effect depending on the nature and complexity of the disease.

Medicine "Lamisil"

For ailments caused by fungi, not only Nystatin is prescribed. Analogs, such as the drug Lamisil, can also be recommended to patients. This medication is available both in tablet form and in the form of a spray, ointment, gel, which allows it to be used both internally and externally. Pharmacists used terbinafine as the main substance that acts directly on pathogens.

Patients who have used the medication speak positively about it, with the exception of those isolated cases in which side effects occurred.

Remedy "Candide"

The medication "Candide" is intended exclusively for external use and is available in the form of a solution, gel, suppositories, etc. This medicine is based on the substance clotrimazole, which disrupts the process of ergosterol synthesis in fungal cells, which leads to their destruction. The medicine is effective for various types candidiasis of the epidermis and mucous membranes, mycosis of the nail plates, fungal diaper dermatitis and other ailments caused by yeast and

As for contraindications to the use of the product, there are practically none. Exceptions are the first trimester of pregnancy and increased sensitivity patient to the components of the drug.

The drug "Flucostat"

This medication is available in the form of capsules, injection solution and suspension. Its active ingredient is fluconazole, which successfully fights cryptococcal and candida infections by acting directly on the cell membrane of pathogens. It is prescribed to patients over 3 years of age, but the dosage and duration of treatment is determined by the doctor individually. The specialist is guided not only individual characteristics patient, but also the degree of complexity of the disease. Self-medication with this medication can lead to many negative consequences, including arrhythmia, impaired renal function, etc.
